Argument

One of the aims of this meeting is to contribute, by a comparative approach, to the positioning of geography as a tool for a territorial reading of post-war periods and dynamics, according to regional and local contexts.

We propose to undertake a survey of the contribution of geography to the analysis of the Post-Conflict  period on the basis of a three-fold approach:

  1. a critical approach in relation to the normative frameworks of the post-conflict period, and in relation to the various actors(states, institutions, political authorities, populations, etc.) involved in post-war situations.
  2. a comparative approach, practical and attentive, on the basis of empirical observations and specific case studies, mainly located in Europe, the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa, although counter-examples proposed in other geographical areas may be adopted. These observations will provide a basis for forming more general conclusions, available for future studies focused on other areas.
  3. an active and participative geographical approach, through the mobilisation of practitioners and taking into account feedback from the experiences and analyses of the actors themselves.
