Focusing on the works by Leone (1909-1944) and Natalia Ginzburg (1916-1991) the Summer School is dedicated to a reflection on the authors’ contribution to the 20th century Italian and European history. Besides a critical analysis of their creative and intellectual activity and their civic engagement, the participants will have the opportunity to debate the role both Leone and Natalia had in the publishing house Einaudi, and to experiment new methods of teaching literature. The program includes 3 plenary lessons and 5 seminars. Special guest: Carlo Ginzburg.Language of the activities: Italian.
The conference (under the scientific auspices of the Algerian Chemical Society, Société Algérienne de Chimie, SAC, in association with FASC, the Federation of African Societies of Chemistry) and IUPAC, the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, wishes to emphasize the roles of chemistry education for development and for sustainable development in the Maghreb region and in Africa, by offering an ideal opportunity for sharing experiences among chemistry educators across the African continent and with specialists from other continents.
Now more than ever, gender as an analytical concept is being heavily contested from diverse quarters inside as well as outside academia. The panel discussion addresses key questions of how to teach gender as critical theory in the light of current societal and political tensions on the one hand and institutional constraints inside the university on the other hand. How can we teach “critique”? What does teaching gender mean in terms of methods and topics? And how can we engage in critical research and teaching while responding to societal expectations as to relevant output and knowledge transfer?
On 23 March 2017 the beta version of the platform #dariahTeach and the content will be released at 5.30pm. The launch ceremony will available via a live stream from the Lausanne campus (CH). #dariahTeach is an open source, extensible, online multilingual, community-driven platform for high quality teaching and training materials for the digital humanities specifically tailored for third-level education.
DARIAH-EU workshop in connection to the 2nd Digital Humanities in Nordic countries (DHN) Conference
Different aspects related to higher education programs in Digital Humanities (DH), whether, what and how they should be organized, are currently discussed at many higher education institutions in Nordic countries and beyond. The aim of this proposed workshop at DHN 2017 is to bring together scholars, educators and others interested in different aspects of Digital Humanities education to explore the current potential and challenges and opportunities related to the teaching and learning of Digital Humanities.
Lausanne (Dorigny Campus, CH) welcomes the closing event of the Erasmus+ strategic partenariat #dariahTeach (seven countries, eight partners institutions). Its goal is to strengthen alliances and foster innovative teaching and learning practices among members of the DARIAH network.
As a follow-up to the realizations from a previous scientific symposium on the “Old Book — Cultural-Historical and Scientific Source” (Osijek, October 25 and 26, 2013) and the second interdisciplinary scientific symposium with international participation titled “Literary Heritage Nowadays” (Osijek, November 6 and 7, 2015), by virtue of this conference the organizers would like to facilitate their in-depth analysis and upgrade while especially providing their contribution to a continued study of the opus of the Franciscan esthetician, philosophical-theological writer, Latinist, historian and translator Emerik (Mirko) Pavić (1716 – 1780), whose selected works were dispatched to be digitized within the aforementioned project, on the occasion of his 300th birth anniversary.
The conference aims at bringing together scholars and language education professionals to share their research insights and discuss the issues relevant to the development of individual and societal multilingualism, including language policy, linguistic human rights, and language education in higher education.
Ethical and legal issues
The international workshop Sustainable access to digital cultural and scientific heritage: Ethical and legal issues is organized in the framework of DARIAH's Humanities at Scale project, as a cooperation between The Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research and University of Zagreb University Computing Centre - SRCE. Presenters and workshop managers will be prominent experts from a variety of educational, scientific and heritage institutions, as well as lawyers. The workshop will address the ethical and legal issues related to open access to archival material and scientific works.

5th international congress “Sport, doping and society”
The 5th international congress “Sport, doping and society” is organized by the Spanish Agency for Health Protection in Sport (AEPSAD) and the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). Under the theme “Think Clean”, there will be presented the results of scientific researches and new methodologies in the field of doping in sport from the specific perspective of Human and Social Sciences. We believe that this initiative will contribute to identify the factors that influence the use of doping substances and methods. From this knowledge we hope to foster future prevention and doping control and to promote ethical behavior in sport.
The purpose of this volume is to provide an authoritative state of the art review of research on education in the borderlands worldwide. The authors may submit chapters dealing with, amongst others, intercultural, identity, pedagogical, and representational issues. Any context of education is of interest to the editors (kindergarten to adult education as well as from formal to informal and even non-formal education). In addition to empirical works the editors also welcome theoretical contributions exploring the problematics of education in borderlands.
This workshop is focused on how new digital pedagogical aspects may be driven by communities, enablers and stakeholders. This event would like to engage in discussions and collaborations with the goal of putting the “why” and “how” of digitally enhanced learning, OER and MOOCs as a public good on the agenda. This conference is the closing event of the Erasmus+ project #dariahTeach (23-24 March 2017, Lausanne). It is an event joined to the DARIAH workshop Open Education (22-23 March 2017, Lausanne). In the era of globalization, foreign language teaching has become a worldwide concern for diverse reasons. As language vehicles thought; foreign culture is also assumed to be transmitted as a consequence of the teaching/learning process. Intercultural awareness then is an undeniable issue to be discussed in any foreign language teaching atmosphere. The issue identified above is expected to be significant for teachers, learners, researchers and educationists in general. The importance of the subject will be seen in the exchange of experiences and expertise among local and foreign interveners in a way that raises the students’ awareness in the English department that debates on intercultural issues will serve them in many sorts of ways. This meeting provides an excellent opportunity to share the results of the teachers and students research with a varied audience.
