The focus is on understanding how geographies of home are shaped by political, commercial, and cultural factors, as well as inequalities related to culture, race, location, social class, gender, and sexuality. Appel à contribution - Études urbaines
The COVID-19 lockdown deprived citizens around the world of their mobility. This experience has inspired many citizens to rethink their mobility, to describe it less in terms of quantity – the speed and distance of their journeys – and more in terms of quality and freedom. The Urban Mobilities online publication will be advocating for a post-COVID urban mobility that is pluralistic and benefits all walks of life. It will do so by showcasing projects that question and challenge conventional mobility and its negociation in the public space.

Contemporary African and Black Diasporic Spaces in Europe
"Open Cultural Studies" journal
This special issue of Open Cultural Studies explores the social and cultural spaces in which identifications with African and black diaspora(s) become articulated, (re)negotiated and established as a field of collective agency with transformative power in European societies. It will argue that African diaspora communities and cultures in Europe are constructed not only by individuals’ engagements with Africa and its global diaspora, or mediatized and commercialized notions of Africanness/blackness, but also through collective agency aiming at promoting change in European societies shadowed by the normative whiteness, nationalist discourses and policies, human rights violations and overt racism.

Urban Studies and Practices Journal (JUSP), Special issue
Cities worldwide are major magnets for migrants. Urban environments shape migrants’ experiences in a new locale, whereas migrants contribute to increasing diversity of the city. Due to its extreme complexity and dynamic nature, the reality under the “migrant and the city” interconnection is rarely considered in theoretical accounts, empirical methodologies, or practical interventions in its full diversity. This special issue of the JUSP aims to harness the elusive reality of this interconnection by bridging both disciplinary and theory-practice gaps and inviting scholars and practitioners to share their reflections on the topic. In this issue, we are especially interested in creating a multifaceted account of integration (or assimilation, incorporation, acculturation) as one of the ways to talk about this interconnection.

Can regions understand each other?
Europe and Asia: challenges and crisis-management
Further to the first Europe-Asia conferences exploring regional regime dynamics (France, 2004), policies of regional cooperation (Korea, 2005), interregional competition (France, 2012) and the limits of regional constructions (Kazakhstan, 2014), this 2016 edition will look at the reciprocal understanding of regions and how that is conducive to their capacity (or lack thereof) to monitor crises they undergo, both specific crises and interregional ones. Papers must address original research, in regional dynamics of Asia and Europe, since the end of the cold war and focus on one area among.

Urban renewal projects in Europe
The colloquium will try to highlight two issues about urban renewal projects, shared by all European countries. Who’s benefiting from urban projects? How is it possible to renew in a context of crisis? The first day will inquire both the place left to or/and taken by the citizens in urban projects, the targets of these projects and their social impacts. The second day will assess both the financial crisis impacts on governance, especially on the place of private and public sectors, and the environmental constraints to be taken into account in urban renewal. -

New-Build Gentrifications: Forms, Places and Processes
