    The Press of Exile(s)

    Matter Materiality

36th Congress of the Comité international d’histoire de l’art (CIHA)

Matter and materiality are relevant to the conception, production, interpretation and conservation of works of art from all cultures and periods. This theme draws on the very sources of art and opens up the major issues of our time (resource management, sustainability, the environment, new technologies, digital dematerialisation, etc.). Taking an interest in the matter and materiality of art means taking into account economic, environmental, ideological and aesthetic aspects, and examining the transformation of works of art over time, as well as the gestures and hands that shape them.

Telling stories / building worlds. Production and reception outside the West

    Journal « Communications » (2026)

We are specifically calling for proposals on the phenomena of reception, and even remodelling, of western fictional worlds in other cultural areas. Above all, we hope to supplement this issue by looking at the variety of worldbuilding strategies: the proven and efficient methods of the Japanese and Korean entertainment industries, successful fictional creations in Indian, Nigerian, Mexican, Turkish or Brazilian studios, and even the production of highly successful fictional worlds in countries less renowned for their capacity for cultural influence. In addition to insights from narratology, media cultures and game sciences, the journal will be attentive to anthropological, sociological, legal and/or economic approaches, based on field data from cultural areas whose worldbuilding practices have been overlooked.

Séries états-uniennes de Network des années 2000

Following the conferences devoted to US network series produced from the 1950s to the 1970s (Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier, May 2018), during the 1980s (UPVM, February 2019) or the 1990s (UPVM, February 2020), this conference will focus on network series of the following decade: 2000-2010. Our aim is to give center stage to series that have often been either neglected or analyzed through restricted methodological approaches, and to contribute to re-historicizing the study of television series by refusing to focus solely on the hyper-contemporary series currently being aired.

Digitization in Education: Risks, Values and Opportunities

The digitization of education is at a turning point, raising complex issues. Among the major concerns are the social and human risks associated with the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) and other technologies in decision-making and education. Educators need to consider the integration of these tools into their practices: how can they enrich teaching, what are the implications for assessment, and what is the role of the teacher in this context? The 14th edition of the Ticemed3 international colloquium invites researchers in information and communication sciences and in education and training to engage in a dialogue with their peers in computer science, from a North-South perspective. The aim of Ticemed will be to examine the risks and opportunities associated with the increasing digitization of educational practices, from a technological, ethical and/or cultural angle.

    Digital democracy: promises and illusions

Internet neutrality, access to information, democracy formats

A stable and peaceful society is based on a solid and strong democracy. The democratic model is the future of any society that respects human rights.New information and communication technologies and the still poorly regulated advances in Artificial Intelligence have impacted not only all human activity, but have also contributed to reshaping the relationship with politics, citizen participation, political communication and politics, national and international. The purpose of this international conference is to question the phenomenon of electronic democracy not only from an instrumental point of view (e-voting tool), but to question the conditions of possibility and possible limits.

    Bringing monuments to life

    Staging, spaces and audiences

Research libraries in Rome (1860-1930): the origins of an exceptional documentary collection

    Culture in a digital context

    Questioning practices, categories and methods

The digital transformation has allowed for works to be digitized and shared on the website of cultural institutions (museums, theaters, libraries, etc.). It has also increased the range of online offerings, which grew exponentially during the recent health crisis. Therefore, is it accurate to call both those who frequent cultural institutions in person and those who consult their offerings online as “audiences”? Attempts to define cultural contents that are marked by hybridization processes and the blurring of levels of legitimacy makes it difficult to identify what is a cultural practice, an informational practice, entertainment or a form of sociability, and thus further complicates this issue. How can we define what constitutes a digital cultural practice?
