Artistic-cultural practices, productions and epistemologies from the edges: voices and decolonial stakes of feminisms and sexual dissidences
This symposium aims to make visible, analyze and reflect on border cultural practices and productions. In the geographic and symbolic borders stand identities and resistances of those “othernesses” built by colonialism and by that “western conscience”. In a decolonizing effort on the object-subject in artistic-cultural production, feminisms and sexual dissidences in the Ibero-American and diasporic space transform “the personal into the political” through artivist practices and the appropriation of public and virtual space, proposals from performance, manifesto, street art, literature, weaving, scenic arts and music, among other forms of expression that deconstruct the hegemonic vision.

Interdisciplinary Franco-Latin-American perspectives on challenges related to the environment
Since the 1970s, environmental issues have continued to grow. Indeed, we have moved from a localized perception of environmental damage to a global understanding of the risks associated with climate change and their impacts on socio-ecosystems. In order to better respond to the challenges and stakes of the environmental crisis that is impacting us, it seems appropriate to share and make known the experiences and theories developed from different continents, cultures and geographies in order to enrich our object of study. In this regard, this Congress, which will be held from October 23 to 27, 2023 in Costa Rica, proposes to offer perspectives on multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary studies on environmental issues: climate change, biodiversity, resilience, global health, payments for environmental services, etc.

To the rescue of minority groups. Gender, migration and racism in heritage and museums
The gradual transformation experienced by museums in the last few years has fostered the incorporation into exhibition spaces of social minorities hitherto barred from them due to their social invisibility, exclusion and marginalisation. Occidentalism and European-centred perspectives gave rise to decontextualised, distorted and racial exhibition criteria constructed from a biased view of otherness.

Memories in the Caribbean and Latin American Areas: between Tradition, Modernity and Transmodernity
1920-2020: a century of capitalism

Intervenciones. Cine – arte – política
Revista “La región central”, vol. 1 no. 1
This first issue of La región central explores the idea of intervention: reciprocal interventions between cinema and contemporary art, but also interventions on the social sphere that may help think the political dimension of contemporary art practices. We propose a monographic issue attending to the political dimension of cinema and contemporary art relations through theoretical and more practical, case oriented critical approaches. We seek to interrogate not just the textual dimensions or phenomenological frames of apprehension of moving images, but also their poetics of production and their potential to critically intervene the social sphere.

In the case of Colombia, peace has been sought for more than 60 years of an internal conflict that seems to be coming to an end, thanks to the final agreement that the Colombian government and the FARC-EP reached to ‘end the armed conflict and build a stable and lasting peace

500 years of Utopia - readings of Thomas Moore

Utopian Imaginaries: Past, Present and Future
By announcing this international conference on Utopian Imaginaries we aim to establish a link between the past and the present in which the former may help to understand the sense and the importance of utopia in the modern world and, at the same time, inspire the development of new utopian perspectives. We wish to open a space for critical dialogue in which the work of researchers intersects with the presentation of utopian proposals and experiences by social activists. Thus, the call is directed both to researchers interested in utopian imaginaries from the perspective of History and other social and human sciences, and to the spokespeople of movements and experiences who claim a utopian horizon in any country.

Revue Espaces et Sociétés
The mass education movements seen in most education systems of the past fifty years have transformed the issues related to school and education spaces. There is a reconstruction of these spaces that questions traditional learning and education missions of the school with broader educational initiatives to meet new problems. This issue focuses on the reorganization of school and educational spaces in relation to local initiatives (local and regional authorities , community associations, popular education movements...) on social and educational issues that mark the contemporary school. In a competitive environment where urban and school areas are increasingly hierarchical, where internal divisions are reinforced, where the external borders are fluid, we question the links between spatial segregation, educational pathways and forms of treatment of new educational issues.

Protections versus Societies. Latin America in the 19th and 20th Centuries
The symposium “Protections versus Societies” invites researchers of history and the social sciences to collaboratively reflect on the history of social protection in Latin America and its contemporary manifestations. The objective will be to deepen our understanding of the debates concerning the history of social protection and reforms of social security, debates which have gained a new depth and urgency over the last decades, originating in regional policies of free trade and agendas of privatization of public health, education, and social security. We want to explore how these and older transformations, present from the 19th century onwards, played a critical part in the process of modifying the way societies were constructed and thought in Latin America. The 19th century mutual societies with their associative function would be one example, as well as the later precarization of public social security arrangements and its impact on the proliferation of the so called “Societies of Risk”. This makes the study of the performative dimension of social protection paramount, with regards to how it led to the extinction, conservation and transformation of different types of societies.

Call for papers - Representation
We propose that this number be an interdisciplinary approach, one which makes use of history, sociology, anthropology, diplomacy, gender and otherness: aesthetic representations of any kind. The historical period that focuses on the eighth issue of Amerika goes from the nineteenth century to the present day. All the work relating to the past prior to the nineteenth century, linking it to the more recent periods, is welcome as well. This reflection is the product of the exchange and discussion between the University of Antioquia (Colombia) and the Université de Rennes 2 (France). -
