  Religion and Identity

  Intersections of collective and private identity with religion and spirituality

  Ever since the very first human social formations, the spheres of religion and identity have intersected significantly. Examples of the endless forms by which collective and individual identities are interwoven throughout the entirety of our human existence are embedded in our historical records. How is identity constructed, shaped, and maintained by religious activities? How do religions change the identities of their converts? The upcoming conference hosted by the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Szeged aims to open a symposium where topics concerning the intersections of religiosity and identity – should it be private or public – can be discussed in a broader sense.

  Fondée en 1989, la Fondation scientifique de Florian Znaniecki prévoit la publication d’un volume faisant partie de la série de monographies sociologiques sous le titre provisoire « Contemporary migrations in the humanistic coefficient perspective. Florian Znaniecki’s thought in today’s science » (« Migrations contemporaines dans la perspective du coefficient humaniste. Pensée de Florian Znaniecki dans la science d’aujourd’hui »). Ainsi, la Fondation vous invite à soumettre des textes originaux rédigés en anglais, non publiés auparavant et consacrés à la présence de la pensée de Florian Znaniecki dans les études contemporaines sur les migrations.

  The Fourth Conference of the European Society for the Study of Symbolic Interaction (EU SSSI)

  Conference on sociological social psychology, symbolic interactionism, and qualitative methods

  The Fourth Conference of the European Society for the Study of Symbolic Interaction (EU SSSI) promises to become the largest conference on sociological social psychology, symbolic interactionism, and qualitative methods in Europe. The Conference Program includes 6 plenary sessions with keynote speakers, 24 regular sessions, and an Interdisciplinary Workshop on Ethnography. These will include special regular sessions organized by the partner departments at Uppsala University which will feature their disciplinary traditions in ethnographic studies and the use of qualitative methodology.
