Disability and geography: spatialities of disability and social and professional integration
8th EUGEO Congress on the Geography of Europe
The disability rights movement laid the foundation for the current development of disability studies. A number of geography-based studies have been part of this stream of research since the 1990s. From different theoretical perspectives, they aim to study the links between disability and spatial injustice or to explore the sensitive dimension of the spatial relationships of people with disabilities. This EUGEO 2021 session wishes to highlight all the work that considers disability and its issues through a spatial approach. Whether the study of the mobility of people with disabilities or the analysis of their objective and subjective links with space, work that analyzes the spatialities of disability in their multiplicity and diversity will be particularly appreciated. With the aim of understanding to what extent space can be an asset or a hindrance for people with disabilities, this session also encourages work that questions the different logics of social and professional integration and in particular the influence of the living environment in these logics.

Undergound Atmospheres. Renewing the debate
This special issue of Ambiances aims to highlight shared topics and possible bridges between actors who usually operate on different scales. We encourage reflections questioning the stakes and methods of the construction of inhabited space in its verticality by reintroducing the question of the underground, not as a soffit but as a living and evolving interface. The issue invites researchers, practitioners of the operational world and designers from different fields, who will share their work on the questions of undergrounds and ambiances – built, experienced and lived by humans – by highlighting case studies, in-situexperiences and new methodological tools. This call is organised around three, non-exclusive thematic lines open for articles from urban studies, architecture, engineering, humanities and social sciences.

Economic transitions and new ruralities - rural spaces and spatial projects

Call for papers - Urban studies
First Pan-African Rain University
In a general manner, regardless of their size, sanitation in African cities in line with the management problems of wastewater and excreta, rainwater and hazardous wastes municipal, encompasses many stakes relating to public health, economic and social development, the well-being of people and the preservation of the environment. Combined with uncontrolled urbanization and the upsurge of precipitation episodes of high intensity, sanitation in African cities has become, over the years, a major issue that it is now impossible to separate any strategic planning from sustainable development in African cities.

Visibility and invisibility of soil pollution in post-industrial territories
New perspectives for resilience and environmental justice?

Call for papers - Urban studies

Surviving the End of the World as We Know It
Historical and Geographical Perspectives
Great natural disasters which have struck populations (floods, hurricanes, cyclones, typhoons, earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, massive droughts, etc.) are part of the intricate history of human communities and their relationship with their environment, contributing to social and cultural changes within these communities. This call for papers focuses on a multidisciplinary approach and suggests that applicants: Study and investigate the various responses given to disasters in ancient and modern times; Analyze the evolution of public policies dealing with natural risks and their consequences on land planning; Study long term factors of adaptation to risk which reveal a territory’s resilience; Provide a specific interest in coastal regions.

"If we were to imagine the future of running water, what it looking like?"

"Tower of Babel" or global networks in permanent restructuring
Migration between myth and reality

Urban renovation: what socio-spatial changes?
Apprehending the socio-spatial changes of urban renovation between discourse and representations, intentions and productions

Patrimonializing the living practices. When do uses become heritage?
Annual meeting of the LIEU network 2018
Since two or three decades heritagization phenomenon concerns more and more different objects and scales. Within this frame, is to inhabit the city becoming an object of heritage itself? This conference will focus on processes that transform the ordinary and daily practices – and the spaces in which they take place – in a unique and representative experience, capable to identify, qualify and/or protect spaces of patrimonial value (labeled, ordinary, common heritage, etc.).

Mountains and the collective management of the commons: influences and interactions
Ancestral collective ownership systems linked to village communities, sprouted from feudal law, used to correspond to an agrarian economy that was generally needed for self-subsistence (feeding). This economy gradually deteriorated for a variety of interconnected reasons. Nonetheless, these systems have managed to survive over time, which is rather surprising. Their presence is still strongly felt in rural areas – mainly in mountain regions (France, Italy and Switzerland, in particular). In a contemporary context of agricultural decline, the disappearance of landscapes, declining allocations from the state to communes and the urgent need to preserve natural resources and stimulate rural areas, one has to ask which roles these communities can play to develop the mountain territories in a sustainable way.

New directions in city and regional planning
A resurgence of scientism or new models?
