  Worlds of Earth Law : Emergence and Governance of Earth’s new Normative Spaces

  Law, technologies, and living things in 'nature' exist in a relation of co-production.What happens, however, in practice when lawyers, technoscience, and 'nature' meet in transnational adjudication – Ecuador v Chevron being an ideal-typical case ? This panel will invite papers that consider Earth Law and normative spaces as co-productive worlds of configurations of legal practices, technoscientific practices, and living and lively agencies.

  The right use of the Earth

  Knowledge, power and duties within a finite planet

  The advent of the Anthropocene concept and Earth system sciences – putting forward upscaled temporalities in the public sphere, the dramatization of warnings on planetary limits and boundaries and on the human impacts of climate change – provide a challenging context for the humanities and social sciences. Cropping up these developments and at the crossroad of world and connected histories, environmental history, human geography and social, political and legal studies, the conference will examine how ideas of a global, unified and limited earth played a role in human reflexivity, and how the “right use” of the Earth as a whole has become, and is increasingly becoming, an object of knowledge making and government practices.

  L’épigénétique comme interdiscipline : entre sciences sociales et sciences du vivant

  Depuis le début des années 2000, le développement scientifique spectaculaire de l’épigénétique incite un nombre croissant de chercheurs en sciences sociales à tenter de constituer l’épigénétique comme une nouvelle « interdiscipline » : un carrefour disciplinaire à l’intersection des sciences du vivant et des sciences sociales explorant l’enchevêtrement du biologique, de l’environnement et du social. Qu’il s’agisse d’exposition au risque, d’usages alimentaires, de stress, de préjudice ou de stigmate, toutes ces dimensions familières en sciences sociales seraient désormais, c’est du moins la thèse défendue par les promoteurs de l’épigénétique en sciences sociales, parties prenantes du raisonnement biologique. L’objectif général de ce numéro spécial sera de faire progresser la connaissance sur la nature et les conséquences de l’épigénétique pour les sciences sociales en réunissant des contributions venues notamment de l’anthropologie, du droit, de la philosophie, de la sociologie, de la science politique, etc.

  Huitième table ronde internationale de sémiotique juridique

  Eighth Roundtables for the Semiotics of Law - IRSL 2009

  La rencontre de 2009 entend se concentrer sur les progrès réalisés dans les divers domaines – méthodologiques, épistémologiques et conceptuels – de recherche en sémiotique juridique. La table ronde souhaite, notamment, explorer les conséquences des thèmes suivants : « Transparence, contrôle et pouvoir » sous une perspective sémiotique ainsi que les approches émergeantes et prometteuses qui peuvent être utilisées dans la recherche et l'interprétation du droit et des phénomènes juridiques. Le but principal de cette rencontre est d'examiner les défis épistémologiques et méthodologiques auxquels « transparence, contrôle et pouvoir » fait face aujourd'hui et d'en considérer les effets. Nous espérons que les communications refléteront la nature interdisciplinaire des recherches en sémiotique juridique ainsi que les défis auxquels les chercheurs font face dans ce domaine.
