Dans quelle mesure la Shoah doit-elle s’entendre comme un « projet » européen ? Telle est la question que se sont récemment posée des chercheuses et chercheurs sur la Shoah aussi éminents que Mary Fulbrook et Thomas Sandkühler. Depuis l’arrivée au pouvoir des nazis, les Allemands ont été les précurseurs et les praticiens de la discrimination, de l’exclusion, et, à terme, de l’assassinat systématique de la population juive en Allemagne. Si l’on dispose aujourd’hui de travaux substantiels sur la complicité dans divers pays occupés, il manque à ce jour d’un cadre interprétatif permettant de décrire et d’expliquer l’implication dans la Shoah comme un phénomène transnational. Le colloque veut contribuer à saisir la dimension européenne de la coopération durant la Shoah sur un plan conceptuel, comparatif et terminologique, afin de sonder les possibilités d’explorer ce champ avec les outils de l’histoire partagée ou de l’histoire croisée.

Depuis l’arrivée au pouvoir des nazis, les Allemands ont été les précurseurs et les praticiens de la discrimination, de l’exclusion, et, à terme, de l’assassinat systématique de la population juive en Allemagne. Pendant la guerre, les occupants allemands ont indubitablement été les initiateurs, les artisans et les exécuteurs de l’extermination des Juifs. Mais partout ils ont trouvé des complices et des partenaires pour mettre en œuvre la ghettoïsation, la déportation et l’assassinat de la population juive. Si l’on dispose aujourd’hui de travaux substantiels sur la complicité dans divers pays occupés, il manque à ce jour d’un cadre interprétatif permettant de décrire et d’expliquer l’implication dans la Shoah comme un phénomène transnational. Ces dernières décennies, les recherches sur la Shoah se sont certes internationalisées, mais l’instrumentaire de l’histoire transnationale (c’est-à-dire la question du transfert des savoirs et des pratiques, de la comparaison systémique et la recherche d’un schéma d’interprétation transversal) est peu utilisé dans ce champ de recherche important, dès lors qu’il s’agit d’étudier la complicité des sociétés non allemandes. Le colloque veut contribuer à saisir la dimension européenne de la coopération durant la Shoah sur un plan conceptuel, comparatif et terminologique, afin de sonder les possibilités d’explorer ce champ avec les outils de l’histoire partagée ou de l’histoire croisée.

As a child during the war, Henryk Grynberg survived the Holocaust by hiding with his mother on Polish farms. He emigrated to the United States in 1967 and became the author of an important body of work in which he recounted his experiences. For his first film, Paweł Łoziński accompanies Henryk back to his native village. By talking to his former neighbours he tries to determine the circumstances of the murder of his father and younger brother.
