Resumo
This new issue aims at exploring the relationship between Art and Ethics. One of the reasons is that Ethics has been the great absentee in the discussion about climate change. Why is it important to be involved? What are the ethical considerations behind getting involved? How about environmental justice? Many topics that are connected to Ethics. But we want to explore Ethics from an artistic point-of-view: How do artists/artworks contribute to the ethical debate? Is there an ethical way to create art? Can ethics be the main inspiration of art practices? Can art be a ferment for ethics? Can art show the way to society?

This new issue of the journal p-e-r-f-o-r-m-a-n-c-e aims at exploring the relationship between Art and Ethics. One of the reasons is that Ethics has been the great absentee in the discussion about climate change. Why is it important to be involved? What are the ethical considerations behind getting involved? How about environmental justice? Many topics that are connected to Ethics.
But we want to explore Ethics from an artistic point-of-view: How do artists/artworks contribute to the ethical debate? Is there an ethical way to create art? Can ethics be the main inspiration of art practices? Can art be a ferment for ethics? Can art show the way to society?
We hope that climate will be one of the focuses for this issue, but we are open to other questions like diversity, social justice, identity, etc. as long as the contributions explore the relationship between Art and Ethics.
Submission guidelines
Contributions should be sent as word documents (with links to audio and/or video files if any) in English or in French to editor@p-e-r-f-o-r-m-a-n-c-e.org, and should contain :
- The complete paper to be reviewed, containing a title, authors and affiliations, keywords, abstract,
- the essay per se (containing 3,000 to 6,000 words),
- a short bio, and the name of 2 to 3 possible reviewers,
no later than December 30th, 2024.
Submissions are understood to be original, unpublished, and should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Please send also all the figures that are in the paper as separate files with a high definition.) Note that any incomplete or late submission will not be reviewed.
Multimedia artists' presentations connected to the topic Art and Ethics are also possible. Contact us if you have such a proposal.
The journal publishes scholarly essays, multimedia artists’ presentations, as well as book, performance, and film reviews. Each issue focuses on a specific theme, exploring art research and performance in its various aspects, but contributions outside the main topic of an issue are always possible.
Peer review
p-e-r-f-o-r-m-a-n-c-e is a double-blind peer reviewed, online journal. Reviewers will be chosen by the Editor.
