Aims & Scope

The Journal of Studies in Language, Culture and Society (JSLCS) invites original, high-quality, unpublished research for its December 2026 issue. As a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary, international forum, JSLCS seeks to bridge critical conversations across linguistic, cultural, and sociological inquiry. We prioritize scholarship that makes a clear, original, and significant contribution to global academic debates—not merely regional or national discussions.

We welcome empirical, theoretical, and methodological contributions that engage with one or more of the following domains:

• Language: Applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, pragmatics, language policy, multilingualism, second language acquisition, and translation studies.
• Culture: Cultural studies, intercultural communication, identity politics, media studies, heritage, postcolonial critique, and visual culture.
• Society: Sociology of language, social inequality, education, digital society, and social change.

The Identity Challenge: Authors must clearly articulate how their manuscript fits into a defined sub-field within language, culture, or society. Regionally specific case studies (e.g., focusing on Algeria, the Maghreb, or the Global South) are welcome only if their introduction and conclusion explicitly demonstrate theoretical, methodological, or comparative implications for an international audience. Manuscripts that are overly broad, lack a clear theoretical framework, or fail to engage with specific scholarly debates will be desk-rejected.

Submission Requirements

(Strict Adherence Required)

To be considered for publication, all submissions must satisfy the following JSLCS international standards:

1. Structured Abstract (250–300 words)

Your abstract is your international showcase. It must include:

• Objective
• Methodology
• Results
• Conclusion
• Significance / Contribution (explicitly state the paper’s novelty and its relevance to the global research community)
• Generic or local-only abstracts will result in immediate desk rejection.

2. Journal Template – Mandatory

All submissions must strictly follow the official JSLCS template, available for download on the ASJP submission page. Manuscripts not formatted according to the template will be returned for revision before review.

3. References & Global Engagement

Minimum 25–30 high-quality references, with a majority from the last 5 years.

Prioritize Scopus/Web of Science-indexed journals and reputable international presses (Routledge, Springer, Palgrave, John Benjamins, Cambridge University Press, etc.), unless necessary for context-specific references.

Your literature review must engage with key international scholars and seminal works—not only literature from a single region.

Strict APA 7th Edition style.

4. Manuscript Length & Format

6,000–9,000 words (including references and notes).

Language: Excellent, native-level English (professional editing recommended; non-negotiable for discoverability).

5. Authorship & Ethics

ORCID ID and institutional email address required for all corresponding authors.

AI Use Disclosure: Any use of AI tools in writing, editing, or analysis must be declared in the methodology or acknowledgements (tool name and purpose). AI cannot be listed as an author.

Plagiarism: Similarity must be <20% (excluding references). All submissions screened.

Ethics approval required for human-subjects research.

6. Optional Enhancement for Regionally-Focused Studies

Authors of highly regionally-focused studies may include an extended summary (500–600 words) in an appendix, detailing local context and international relevance for non-specialists.

Review Procedure

After the submission deadline of each call for papers, manuscripts submitted to JSLCS Journal will go through an internal review.  If submitted papers meet the basic requirements of JSLCS, they are sent out for double blind review from experts in the field. 

Reviewers are expected to review articles and return their reviews within a limited period of time (4 to 6 weeks). If reviewers recommend modification that can be minor or major, the author is given the opportunity to adequately respond to their feedback revise and send back his manuscript via ASJP platform.

The publication of the manuscript is decided after the Editor in Chief’ s decision is made.
