The Aristotelian Thematic Network (ATheNe), founded on 19 December 2024, is pleased to announce its first international conference. The event will be hosted by the University of Salerno. The conference will be held on 11, 12 and 13 February 2027 in hybrid format: in person at the Convitto Nazionale Torquato Tasso in Salerno (Largo Abate Conforti 22) and online via a dedicated platform.

Argument

In accordance with the Network’s regulations, the conference will feature both invited speakers and speakers selected through this Call for Papers, who will be expected to cover their own accommodation and meal expenses. There is no registration fee. In accordance with the Network’s regulations, some of the places advertised through the Call will be reserved for doctoral candidates and PhD holders who have not reached the age of thirty-five by the Call deadline.

The conference theme is ‘Beyond the Politics: Political Thought and the Historical and Historiographical Tradition in the Corpus Aristotelicum’.

The conference programme will be organised into thematic sessions. With the exception of the introductory presentations, each presentation will be allotted a maximum of 30 minutes; at the end of each morning and afternoon, a discussion moderated by the chairs of the individual sessions will follow, in order to foster participation and collaboration across all topics. In accordance with the Network’s regulations, contributions that successfully complete a rigorous double-blind peer-review process will be published in the conference proceedings.

Submission guidelines

Those wishing to present a paper should submit, an abstract of no more than 300 words, including a title and five keywords, together with a brief curriculum vitae et studiorum, to athene1@unisa.it,

before 25 September 2026,

Submissions may be in Italian, English, French, German or Spanish.

The outcome of the selection process will be communicated shortly.
