Les membres du comité du programme du congrès , Sylvie Dépatie and Michael G. Vann, sollicitent des projets de communications individuelles ou des propositions pour des séances entières au sujet d'un aspect ou de plusieurs aspects de l'histoire coloniale française. Les organisateurs sont spécialement intéressés par des contributions au sujet des thèmes suivants: o La formation des identités et la construction de la culture dans le monde colonial o La percepion des coloniaux par les métropolitains français o Les relations inter-raciales pendant et après la période coloniale o L'opposition entre les idéaux républicains français et la nature autoritaire de l'empire colonial . o L'histoire des mouvements anti-colonialistes dans l'empire français. o Comment peut-on intégrer l'histoire coloniale dans l'histoire nationale française?

Le département d'histoire de la Georgetown University est le co-commanditaire du congrès. La plupart des séances se tiendront sur le campus de l'université. L'hôtel qui logera les participants est le Rosslyn Holiday Inn at Key Bridge. Call for Papers
The deadline for proposals is September 15, 2003.
FCHS's 30th Anniversary Meeting Wednesday, May 5 to Saturday, May 8 2004 Washington, D.C.


The Program Committee Co-Chairs, Sylvie Dépatie and Michael G. Vann, encourage scholars to submit either individual papers or full panels on any and all aspects of French Colonial History. There is a special interest in papers and/or panels that investigate the following: o The formation of identities and the construction of culture in the colonial world. o Perceptions of colonials by metropolitan French. o The role of race in the colonial encounter and the post-colonial context. o The tension between France's republican ideals and the authoritarian nature of the empire. o Religious practice and belief in the colonial world. o The history of anti-colonial movements within the French empire. o Strategies or models for integrating colonial history into the fabric of French national history.

Abstracts of 100 to 200 hundred words and a short CV should be sent to either:

The deadline for proposals is September 15, 2003. The Georgetown University History Department will cosponsor this event. Most sessions will be held on the Georgetown campus.
