Summary

The cycle of “Genealogies of Memory” seminars is conceived as an introduction to the conference “Regions of Memory” and its aim is to show the regional diversity of memory studies throughout Europe. During the seminar, researchers from Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique will present their papers on some aspects of collective memory in France.

The seminar will be held in French and Polish (with simultaneous translation) and available
on‐line on www.genealogies.enrs.eu (with possibility of asking questions).

  • Introduction: Joanna Wawrzyniak (Institute of Sociology, Warsaw University; Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies)
  • Marie‐Claire Lavabre (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, France)
    Realms of Memory, Memory Work and Frames of Memory: three French perspectives on memory
  • Sarah Gensburger (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, France)
    Memory and politics in the French research field

Commentary: Paweł Rodak (Institute of Polish Culture, Warsaw University)
