Abstract

The IV International Congress Sport, Doping and Society is organized by the Technical University of Madrid (UPM) and the Spanish Agency for Health Protection in Sport (AEPSAD). Under the theme “Looking to the future”, it will be presented the results of scientific researches and new methodologies in the field of doping in sport.From the specific perspective of Social and Human Sciences, we believe that this initiative will contribute to identify the factors that influence the use of doping substances and methods. From this knowledge we hope to foster future prevention and doping control and to promote ethical behavior in sport.

Argument

The IV International Congress Sport, Doping and Society is organized by the Technical University of Madrid (UPM) and the Spanish Agency for Health Protection in Sport (AEPSAD). Under the theme “Looking to the future”, it will be presented the results of scientific researches and new methodologies in the field of doping in sport.From the specific perspective of Social and Human Sciences, we believe that this initiative will contribute to identify the factors that influence the use of doping substances and methods. From this knowledge we hope to foster future prevention and doping control and to promote ethical behavior in sport.

In addition, this Congress will devote a special session aimed for young students, both high school and university levels, which will address issues related to prevention.Is due to attend a wide representation of authorities related to sport, researchers, educators and other professionals working in different areas of fight against doping.
The Congress will take place from 26 February to 1 March 2014 and will be held at the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport - INEF (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain).

The Congress accepts texts written in any of the three official languages: English, Spanish and French. No simultaneous translation is provided except for the plenary sessions.

Thematic areas

This Congress is conceived with a scientific-educational purpose to meet people interested in a current and broad topic as doping in sports, focusing on the field of Social and Human Sciences. Therefore, the structure is established as follows:

  • Scientific Area (Social and Human Sciences): Law, History, Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, Media, Education, Economy and other subjects.
  • Educational Area (doping prevention): High School students and University students.
