Abstract
The 5th international congress “Sport, doping and society” is organized by the Spanish Agency for Health Protection in Sport (AEPSAD) and the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). Under the theme “Think Clean”, there will be presented the results of scientific researches and new methodologies in the field of doping in sport from the specific perspective of Human and Social Sciences. We believe that this initiative will contribute to identify the factors that influence the use of doping substances and methods. From this knowledge we hope to foster future prevention and doping control and to promote ethical behavior in sport.

Introduction
The V International Congress “Sport, Doping and Society” is organized by the Spanish Agency for Health Protection in Sport (AEPSAD) and the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). Under the theme “Think Clean”, there will be presented the results of scientific researches and new methodologies in the field of doping in sport from the specific perspective of Human and Social Sciences.
We believe that this initiative will contribute to identify the factors that influence the use of doping substances and methods. From this knowledge we hope to foster future prevention and doping control and to promote ethical behavior in sport.
In addition, this Congress will devote special workshops which will address issues related to doping prevention.
It is due to attend a wide representation of authorities related to sport, researchers, educators and other professionals working in different areas related to the fight against doping.
Dates and venue
The Congress will take place from 15-17 February 2017 and will be held at the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport - INEF (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid).
Thematic areas
This Congress is conceived with a scientific-educational purpose to meet people interested in a current and broad topic as doping in sports, focusing on the field of Humanities and Social Sciences. Therefore, it has established the following thematic structure:
- Scientific areas: sociology, psychology, law, education, information science, economics, history, philosophy and related areas.
- Educational area: theoretical and practical workshops.
Languages
The Congress accepts texts written in any of the two official languages: English and Spanish. No simultaneous translation is provided except for the plenary sessions.
Oral presentations
Oral presentations will have a length of 15 minutes and will be included in thematic areas, allowing time at the end for questions and discussion. To introduce the different areas of the Congress there are 6 plenary sessions planned with internationally renowned speakers.
During the last day of the conference 3 theoretical and practical workshops on doping prevention will be held.
The Congress will also award a prize for 'Young Researchers' for speakers with less than 35 years.
Abstract and proceedings publication
The scientific journal Materiales para la Historia del Deporte (ISSN: 1887-9586 – indexed in DICE catalog) will publish, in a special issue, all abstracts accepted by the Scientific Committee. Afterwards the proceedings will be published in a book as a book chapter (with ISBN).
Exhibition
The Congress will host different exhibitions regarding information about doping, institutional partners and sponsors. Congress participants will benefit form special discounts and promotions.

Submission guidelines
The deadline for submission of scientific papers has been extended 10 days,
closing on Thursday, 10th November at 23:59h CET.
We remind all researchers that this extension also affects the delivery of the full text to be eligible for the 'Young Researchers Award’
Abstract submission is made through the Congress website (previously registration in the congress) and you will receive a confirmation email: http://www.deportedopajesociedad.com/
Abstract characteristics:
- Abstracts must be original, unpublished and written in one of the two official languages of the Congress (Spanish or English).
- Abstract title is limited to 20 words.
- The summary will have a maximum of 300 words (including acknowledgments), 4 keywords and will not include figures, graphs, images, tables, diagrams or bibliography.
- Abstracts must clearly indicate: Background, Objectives, Methods, Results and Conclusions
