Abstract

The Philosophical Journal of Conflict and Violence (PJCV) welcomes contributions from young researchers and established academics concerning the philosophical issues raised by violent crimes. The selected articles will be published open access by Trivent Publishing at the beginning of December 2017.

Main topics

 We welcome papers from philosophical research fields on the following topics: 

  •  Classic and modern philosophical accounts (Plato, Aquinas, Hobbes, Beccaria, Bentham, Kant, Hegel, Foucault etc.) on crime and legal punishment.
  •  Reflections on the philosophical foundations of modern criminology or on the epistemological issues of contemporary crime studies.
  •  Ethical studies on criminal responsibility and psychopathy.
  •  Philosophical studies on extreme crimes (terrorism, genocides, serial murder etc.).
  •  The PJCV also welcomes novel papers on crime and René Girard’s mimetic theory.

Dates and deadlines

  • Manuscript Submission May 1st, 2017
  • Decision Notification July 1st, 2017
  • Final Manuscript Submission August 1, 2017
  • Publication Date December 2017

Submission Guidelines

Papers should be written following the template and guidelines found at http://trivent-publishing.eu/pjcv.html and should have a maximum of 20 pages. Papers can be written in English or French. However, abstracts shall exclusively be written in English.
