Abstract
You are invited to submit a short abstract to the 3rd International Land Use Symposium on Land use changes: Trends and projections, to be held December 4-6 2019, in Paris Diderot University. It will be preceded by a pre-symposium workshop on Urban Sprawl on December 3rd, 2019. The ILUS organizing committee welcomes the submission of original contributions with the goal of advancing our understanding of land use and land cover (LULC) changes. Submission may either fit focus themes or be on a white track.
Announcement
On behalf of the organizing committee it is our great pleasure to draw your attention to the 3rd International Land Use Symposium on Land use changes: Trends and projections, to be held December 4-6 2019, in Paris.
In conjunction with ILUS, a pre-conference workshop on Urban Sprawl will take place at the Paris Diderot University in December 3rd, 2019. For more details, see http://ilus2019.ioer.info/workshop/.
The ILUS organizing committee welcomes the submission of original contributions with the goal of advancing our understanding of land use and land cover (LULC) changes. Model-driven analysis and visualization of LULC changes provide basic information for good and meaningful decisions. The demands on the quality and availability of spatial data and information services are constantly increasing, and innovative geoinformation technologies and the processing of large amounts of data (Big Data) lead to new challenges. Contributions may be theoretical, methodological, or applied in nature. Research may the following topics:
Land Use and Land Cover Change Observations:
Sustainable Development Goal indicators; Multi-temporal and multi-resolution land use/land cover patterns; Measuring and modelling urban sprawl/urban growth; Urban structure type mapping; Building type recognition; Urban morphologic analysis (streets, buildings, etc.); Decision making and brownfield management; Transformation of commercial and industrial wastelands; Measuring and management of soil sealing; Urban infill and brownfields redevelopment; Environmental effects of land-use changes; Simulation and prognosis models of land use changes; Uncertainty management.
Metropolization: Challenges and Risks:
Causes and mitigation of urban heat island effects; Hazard and risk modelling; Urban planning and climate change adaptation; Smart city models and energy efficiency; Urban energy transition; Land use and transport management; Measuring socio-spatial inequalities; Assessment and strategies to reduce light pollution; Benefits of green and blue infrastructures; Urban metabolism; Trajectories of cities; Cities as complex systems.
Drivers, Mechanisms, Tools:
Political, legal, social, economic and planning aspects of land use and land cover changes. Monitoring and Evaluation of land use and land cover changes; Mobile App Development; Citizen Knowledge, Citizen Science; VGI and participation tools in spatial and urban planning.
