A comissão organizadora do IX Colóquio de Cinema e Arte na América Latina (COCAAL) tem a satisfação de informar que está aberta a chamada de trabalhos para o evento, que acontecerá na cidade de Salvador, entre os dias 19 e 22 de setembro de 2023, na Faculdade de Comunicação da Universidade Federal da Bahia. O tema do COCAAL 2023 é Latinidades Afro-ameríndias e o prazo para envio de propostas de mesas pré-constituídas e comunicações livres é até o dia 30 de abril. Serão aceitos trabalhos em português e espanhol.

In this roundtable, professors Jonathan Wolff (University of Oxford) and Avner de-Shalit (Hebrew University of Jerusalem) will discuss their work in progress, focused on the topic of urban injustices. Employing a methodological approach merging normative expertise with applied reflections, supported by data from interviews with over 180 people worldwide, Wolff and de-Shalit set out to conceptualize a city in which individuals relate to each other as equals.

This panel focuses on political practices and symbolic resources structuring economic and financial transactions among actors of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) politics. In particular, the panel questions the BRI political-socio-economic context which contributed to the emergence of transnational think tanks, media, social agents, and civil society organizations that are now daily reporting, commenting, and criticizing the Chinese public interventions in agro-industries, natural resources, and environmental policies in the global South, especially in African countries.

La Critic, association loi 1901 basée à Cayenne (Guyane française), est une structure au croisement des sciences humaines et sociales et de l’éducation populaire. Dans ce cadre, elle développe des activités de recherche (études, évaluation, recherche-actions) concernant les problématiques territoriales, culturelles, sociales et politiques guyanaises, principalement en lien avec les questions ayant trait à la jeunesse. Sous la direction du responsable scientifique, le/la chargé·e d'études partipera au développement du « laboratoire permanent » de La Critic, et sera notamment amené·e à réaliser des enquêtes de terrain sur le territoire guyanais, y compris les communes non routières.

Forest citizenship for disaster resilience: learning from COVID-19
Postdoctoral fellowship of the Research Project Trans-Atlantic Platform (FAPESP/ESRC/NSF)
The Project “Forest citizenship for disaster resilience: learning from COVID-19” and the Department of Sociology at Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) are receiving applications for one postdoctoral (PD) scholarship to develop research on forest citizenship in Amazonia. This scholarship is associated with the Trans-Atlantic Platform, supported by FAPESP Grant 2021/07558-3, directed by Prof. Dr. Rodrigo Constante Martins in Brazil, Luke Parry in the United Kingdom, and Peter Newton in the United States. The main goal of this postdoctoral fellowship, which was pre-approved by the Sao Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), is to investigate how forest peoples, notably rural communities and riverine populations, have made use of specific practices and actions to face the pandemic of COVID-19, and how the strategies adopted by these social groups - outside the established institutional circuits - have been constituted as important instruments for the maintenance of their ways of life.

De manera simultánea a la represión política, censura y control, las dictaduras conosureñas en la historia reciente desplegaron diferentes estrategias de construcción de consenso y legitimación para internalizar conductas favorables al orden interno impuesto, lograr adhesión social y apoyo a políticas públicas específicas, obtener obediencia y disponibilidad ciudadana. Esta mesa convoca la presentación de trabajos que indaguen problemas conceptuales, metodológicos y analíticos referidos a los estudios de legitimación gubernamental, de actitudes y de comportamientos sociales en consecuencia.

La Critic, basée en Guyane française, recrute un·e chargé·es d'études en sciences humaines et sociales afin de renforcer les activités de recherche (évaluation, recherche-action…) participant du laboratoire permanent de l'association, et notamment les évaluations menées dans le cadre du FEJ (Fonds d’expérimentation pour la jeunesse). Les principales thématiques traitées concernent les champs de la jeunesse (engagement et citoyenneté, insertion, action socioculturelle…), de l’action sanitaire et sociale (prévention et protection de l’enfance, promotion de la santé, accompagnement…) et du développement territorial (vie associative, participation locale, réseaux d’acteurs, politiques publiques…) en lien avec des questions transversales (interculturalité, commun, puissance d’agir…).

El coloquio se inscribe en el contexto de los 200 años de la Independencia del Perú y se propone pensar y repensar el Conflicto Armado Interno o guerra civil (1980-2000), su final y sus consecuencias hasta la actualidad, desde el significado de la conmemoración del Bicentenario, el estudio del continuum de las formas de violencia de Estado, así como los usos de la violencia insurgente del denominado PCP-SL y del MRTA, a 41 años del inicio del conflicto en Ayacucho y a 18 años de la publicación del Informe de la Comisión de la Verdad y Reconciliación (CVR).

Theoretical and methodological perspectives for research
This dossier invites researchers to submit papers discussing the theoretical and methodological challenges and limits facing new research questions in order to address the interfaces between religion and gender in Latin American countries in light of changes in the social and religious field in recent decades. We welcome works produced from different areas of knowledge in the social and human sciences, as well as areas and studies at the intersection of these issues. We set out to encourage reflection on the ethical challenges faced by researchers regarding the new theoretical and methodological models used in our region and beyond.

The SIPCs were born in 1996 on a Brazilian initiative and have been held every two years in Latin America to encourage the exchange of ideas and research results among scientists from various disciplines who find in Norbert Elias’ work a source of guidance in facing the challenges of today’s world and who share an interest in social sciences adjusted to reality.

#MariellePresente - Transnational Resistances
The Gender and Diversity Journal, a feminist and queer review from the northeastern region of Brazil, invites everyone to submit articles, essays, interviews, field journals, reports and other texts for the special issue entitled "#MariellePresente: Transnational Resistances". The texts must describe and analyze the transnational responses following the assassination of the Brazilian Marielle Franco. She was a black woman from the favela, political activist, feminist and lesbian. She was murdered at the corner of a street in Rio de Janeiro in March 2018. Given the political nature of her assassination, many actions denouncing the crime were organized around the world.

Clomparative perspectives in the sociology of professional groups, the sociology of gender and the the sociology of migrations
The object of this session is the sociological theorization of the relation between gender and profession. Today, the question is less the exclusion of women from work defined as professional, considering their feinization, than their routine inclusion in ill-defined support roles. The presentations could cross several approaches (of sociology of professional groups, gender, migrations, intersectionality...) to deal with issues like :inequalities in women's access to certain professions, male resistance to women's carrers, delegation of "dirty work", the specific and cultural construction of a masculinist vision of profession work, how professions professes gender, the effects of liberalisation of professions (in many sectors like Health, Culture or Law) on their feminization...

Des artistes de la scène, des performeurs, des médiateurs, etc., travaillent dans le contexte du transgenre. De plus en plus, la scène et la performance contemporaines sont prises par des artistes transgenres et/ou par des thèmes tels que les identités non binaires, les mouvements queer, l’intersexualité, parmi bien d’autres possibilités qui bouleversent les limites épistémologiques connues jusqu’à présent. D’un point de vue théorique, il ne s’agit pas seulement d’étudier les performances des personnes qui ne s’identifient pas au genre socialement imposé, qui vivent en dehors du binaire, qui ont changé de sexe, ou encore, qui vivent et interprètent des genres non binaires. Il s’agit plutôt de penser comment de telles performances quotidiennes imposent un réarrangement épistémologique de l’idée même de performance. Qu’est-ce que les personnes transgenres apportent comme indicateurs à la performance ? Comment les performances transgenres élargissent-elles ce que nous savons sur l’art, la politique, la résistance, la performativité ? Le champ des relations entre identité transgenre et performance est multiple et ce ne sont là que quelques-unes des questions possibles.
