Elle propose des séminaires présentant des travaux en cours (articles, communications, thèses) et, par ses manifestations, elle valorise les projets scientifiques de ses membres, leur permet d’acquérir des compétences nécessaires à la recherche et développe un réseau d’associations de jeunes chercheur·e·s en sciences humaines et sociales.

DELI project monthly seminar
The DELI project is a French collaborative research project that aims to gather, spread and develop scholarship on South Asian literature in France. It has two main objectives: the first is to develop both a paper and online encyclopaedia of South Asian literature by collecting knowledge on South Asia’s literary traditions from the beginning to the contemporary period. The second aim and broader framework of enquiry of the DELI project is to reconsider the nature of South Asia’s literary cultures by exploring and by publicizing some of their specificities, such as cultural and literary dynamism, multilingualism, oral performance and transmission.

Symposium for the European Society for the History of Science's conference
“Unity and Disunity” has been chosen as the main theme for the European Society for the History of Science's conference that will take place in London on September 2018. Within this framework, Trames Arborescentes has decided to participate by proposing a commented panel that will gather four speakers around the subject “Sacred science: Learning from the tree”. This panel traces the arboreal motif through time, using it as a means to reflect on unity and disunity of interaction between science, art and the sacred.

Study day 1
Les journées d'étude « Héritages de Frantz Fanon dans les arts et la littérature des Amériques » visent à analyser la portée de la pensée et du style fanoniens dans les productions artistiques et culturelles des Amériques. Cette démarche apparaît comme une nécessité épistémologique, tant en raison de l'attachement de Fanon à la création et la défense d'une culture nationale qu'en raison de son propre soin apporté à l'écriture et de son intérêt manifeste pour la littérature. Cette première journée, qui se tiendra à l'Université de Tours, portera plus spécifiquement sur la question de la circulation des théories et sur les traces de Fanon dans la littérature et les arts visuels.

Getting back to the roots of cultural variation
Il existe, semble-t-il, trois et seulement trois modèles de production de la différenciation culturelle. Le premier est celui du diffusionnisme classique [...] Le deuxième est celui de la transformation logique telle qu’elle a été mise au jour par Lévi-Strauss dans Mythologiques [...] Le troisième modèle est dit transactionnel [....] L’objectif du projet est précisément d’approfondir la nature — et la spatialisation respective — de ces trois modèles et de mieux comprendre leur articulation. Sont-ils totalement indépendants ou non ? Comment s’explique leur distribution différentielle à travers l’espace ? Y aurait-il des facteurs qui font de l’un un préalable nécessaire de l’autre ? -

Cross-borders - practices and figures
Ce sont les aspects sociaux (emploi, configurations familiales), logistiques (transports…) et médiatiques (presse / télévision / internet) du transfrontalier comme ses expressions culturelles qui nous intéresseront particulièrement. En outre, nous voudrions confronter le transfrontalier à d’autres notions, comme le « transgénérique », le « transculturel », le « transmédial », etc. Sans compter que notre réflexion sera méthodologique : le transfrontalier étant un concept en plein développement, il nous faudra nous demander quels problèmes il pose aux différentes disciplines en sciences humaines et sociales.

A. J. Greimas and the semiotics of images
L’objectif de cette journée d’études est de revenir sur les fondements et les développements des écrits de Greimas sur l’image, qui ont été décisifs pour le développement de la sémiotique visuelle. Notre journée entend revenir à la genèse de la sémiotique visuelle, notamment par le biais des écrits de Greimas auxquels les différents colloques et congrès organisés dans le cadre de cet anniversaire n’ont pas prêté suffisamment d’attention.Cette rencontre sera associée à l’exposition « Le monde vu par un sémioticien », dédiée au 100e anniversaire de la naissance d'A. J. Greimas.

Fernand Braudel writes in his The Mediterranean and the Mediterranean World in the Age of Philip II: “The Mediterrenean has no unity but that created by the movements of men, the relationships they imply, and the routes they follow” [1972: 276]. The position of the Mediterranean, at the intersection of three continents, has made it a vital location in these movements of men, women and children. These movements continue, sometimes with tragic consequences, to this day. In the Middle Ages, the meeting of peoples and cultures enabled the exchange of ideas, traditions, texts, languages, and things.

The DELI Project (Encyclopedic Dictionary of Indian Literatures) organizes its fifth workshop on 7th December 2017 at the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme. Entitled “Imaginary Homelands: South Asian Literatures in diaspora”, this one-day workshop aims at interrogating the nature of literary phenomena resulting from South Asian diasporas, both ancient and modern. This workshop is organized with the support of the Centre d'Etudes de l'Inde et de l'Asie duSud (CEIAS).

Se l’importanza di Agostino per alcuni autori trecenteschi italiani è fatto auto-evidente, basti pensare a Francesco Petrarca che lo scelse come suo inquisitore e guida spirituale nel Secretum, la lunga durata di questa influenza nel corso del secolo è ancora in gran parte da esplorare, a partire dal caso più contestato, quello di Dante Alighieri. Parallelamente questo convegno s’interesserà al modo in cui l’attività dei membri dell’OESA ha plasmato la vita culturale peninsulare nel corso del secolo e contribuirà a rimettere in questione le categorie storiografiche di agostinismo e anti-agostinismo.

With the advent of corpus linguistics, the use of corpora has become central in linguistics. One underlying assumption is that the corpus is representative of the linguistic phenomenon under scrutiny. Of course, corpus representativeness itself is a methodological construct (Leech 2006, Habert 2010): language corpora are tools constructed by linguists, and their structural limitations constrain and condition the validity of linguistic findings.
