Septième conférence internationale - Antalya
La septième conférence internationale sur les tendances de la recherche en sciences humaines et sociales (MTRHS-23) est organisée par la faculté d’éducation de l’université Akdeniz et la Fondation mondiale Scholar (SCHWLAR). Cette conférence rassemblera des chercheurs du monde entier pour présenter leurs travaux sur des sujets contemporains, des projets de recherche et des documents de travail. Les études en sciences humaines et sociales ont gagné en importance ces dernières années et sont devenues une priorité mondiale, notamment en raison des défis actuels comme la pandémie de coronavirus. Cette évolution a suscité un intérêt croissant des chercheurs et des universitaires pour comprendre et analyser ces changements. Les contenus de recherche dans ces domaines doivent être examinés à la lumière des fluctuations mondiales en cours.

Le numéro 22 d’Al-Kīmiyā, la revue de la Faculté de langues et de traduction de l’université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth se propose d’accueillir, sous le signe de la diversité, des articles recouvrant divers domaines de recherche en traduction et en langue. Les propositions peuvent traiter des problématiques qui préoccupent actuellement la recherche en traductologie et en sciences du langage. Le choix des thématiques est donc laissé cette fois aux chercheurs qui reflèteront ainsi dans leurs articles la diversité des approches et des perspectives ouvertes au décloisonnement des disciplines.

From the disconnected letters to the science of letters: a meeting of knowledges in the Middle East
In order to interpret the disconnected letters of the Qur’an (ḥurūf muqaṭṭa‘a), Muslim thinkers have based their work on esoteric concepts, sometimes handed down from Antiquity, which have flourished in Islamic lands under the name of the science of letters (‘ilm al-ḥurūf). This international symposium aims to study the various representations of the mysterious letters within the wider framework of the science of letters, and to put them in perspective against similar readings from languages and cultures close to Arabic. Part of the symposium will be held in the historic citadel of Erbil in the heart of ancient Mesopotamia, “the land of the two rivers”, the cradle of early writing.

This special issue of Ebisu. Études japonaises focuses on the hypothetical heuristic value and the equally hypothetical performative role that artistic and literary representations, and even myths, play in the making of Japanese territory and the evolution of the reasoning and principles of their planning. Conversely, this issue also seeks to measure and analyse the impact of the dynamics of spatial planning on Japanese artistic and literary production, and even on possible inflections of the great myths that structure them.

We cannot also apprehend clearly its future. However, even if it does not pretend to predict the future, this call for papers wishes to question the long-term effects and the procedures that contribute to the perpetuation of Theatrical currents and productions in the Arab World.

Depuis deux décennies, les séries télévisées s’affirment à l’échelle mondiale en tant qu’objet culturel. L’objectif de la thématique de ce numéro est de croiser les regards des chercheurs issus des humanités autour des écritures sérielles. Les auteurs sont appelés à s’intéresser à ce nouveau matériau en analysant par exemple les personnages, la gestion spatio-temporelle, la fonction des paysages, la production du scénario, au public-cible… de manière à croiser les regards disciplinaires sur ce nouveau produit culturel que la recherche marginalise.

“Al-Kīmiyā”, the Journal of the Faculty of Languages and Translation at the Saint Joseph University of Beirut (issue21)
The theme chosen for issue 21 of Al-Kīmiyā, the Journal of the Faculty of Languages and Translation (FdLT – Faculté de langues et de traduction) of Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ – Université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth) is " Languages, translation, ICTE and distance learning". The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the lives of everyone around the world and the repercussions on the field of education are undeniable. Indeed, teachers and learners quickly found themselves forced to switch to a mode of teaching that had until then been reserved for special cases. Distance learning (DL) has therefore become the norm. This sudden shift certainly led to an increased use of digital tools for which users were not always well-prepared. Whatever mode schools and universities chose, synchronous or asynchronous, a forced and urgent adaptation was inevitable. Issue 21 of our journal proposes to carry out this reflection which could deal with the various challenges and risks that go along with distance education and/or the use of ICTE.

Cet appel est ouvert aux artistes et chercheurs de tous les pays et de toutes les nationalités de la région MENA (Moyen-Orient et Afrique du Nord) et sa diaspora. La chaire Mahmoud Darwich, Bozar, la fondation A. M. Qattan, la fondation Camargo et le Mucem unissent leurs forces pour lancer le premier appel à candidatures en l’honneur de l’héritage du poète palestinien Mahmoud Darwich. Cet appel a pour but d’encourager les résonances contemporaines de l’œuvre du poète palestinien Mahmoud Darwich et de ses influences sur la création artistique et intellectuelle dans le monde contemporain arabe,européen et méditerranéen. Ce premier appel à candidatures est accompagné d’un propos curatorial d’Elia Suleiman.

Call for papers - Epistemology and methodology
Le 4 août 2020, à 18h07, au Liban, une double explosion secoue le port de Beyrouth. 2 700 tonnes de nitrate d'ammonium partent en fumée, dévastant sur leur chemin des quartiers entiers. Plus de 200 morts, plus de 6000 blessés, plus de 7000 familles se retrouvant sans abri : tel est le triste bilan de cette catastrophe. En prenant appui sur cet évènement mais sans vouloir s’y limiter, ce numéro d’InteraXXIons se propose d’interroger cette thématique à la lumière des sciences humaines. À travers l’histoire, plusieurs catastrophes semblables ont eu lieu (à Toulouse, à Fukushima, à Gênes, à Tchernobyl…). Au-delà de la lamentation, de la fascination, de la sidération, de la déploration, du ressentiment, que diffuse la catastrophe ?

“Al-Kīmiyā”, the Journal of the Faculty of Languages and Translation at the Saint-Joseph University of Beirut (issue20)
The theme chosen for issue 20 of Al-Kīmiyā, the Journal of the Faculty of Languages and Translation (FdLT – Faculté de langues et de traduction) of Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ – Université Saint-Joseph) is “Languages, translation and society”. The relationship between these three concepts is undeniable, not to say obvious. It refers to a certain interdisciplinarity displayed by the emergence, for quite a long time, of new disciplines and fields of research. Sociolinguistics dates back to the fifties of the last century, and the calls for the institution of a sociology of translation or a sociology of translation studies trace their roots back to some twenty years. Indeed, Jean-Marc Gouanvic's work Sociologie de la traduction, la science-fiction américaine dans l’espace culturel français des années 1950 was published in 1999. It is therefore a question of revisiting these more or less established fields in an attempt to reflect the current state of research or research perspectives in today's social contexts.

L’appel à propositions interroge la catastrophe et la reprise, nécessaire, de la tragique explosion du 4 août, à Beyrouth. La reprise s’oppose, par définition pour Søren Kierkegaard, à la pure répétition — impossible — du même. La reprise est recréation sous un autre visage, en assumant les aléas de la mémoire, ses failles, ses imprécisions. Reprendre Beyrouth, c’est déjà se trouver sur un terrain miné, à ramasser des éclats de visages, de sens, de chronologie rompue. Reprendre Beyrouth, c’est aussi la repriser, en suturer l’architecture, l’histoire, l’héritage, la sauver de sa propre béance. L'appel, interdisciplinaire, s'ouvre à l'image (photographie, caricature, bande dessinée, illustration, dessin, collage) et au textuel (textes en prose, poèmes, réflexions).

Languages and translation: cognitive stakes
Al-Kīmiyā, the journal of the languages and translation faculty at the Saint-Joseph University of Beirut (issue 19)
La thématique retenue pour le numéro 19 d’Al-Kīmiyā est : « Langues et traduction : enjeux cognitifs ». Depuis quelques décennies, les recherches en sciences cognitives s’intéressent aux processus d’apprentissage en explorant le phénomène de la plasticité cérébrale. Les progrès s’avèrent aujourd’hui réels et incontournables. Les principes fondamentaux de l’apprentissage, ou ce que Stanislas Dehaene appelle les piliers de l’apprentissage, sont bien définis et nécessitent une adaptation, une remise en question, voire une révolution des pratiques d’enseignement. L’enseignement des langues et de la traduction/interprétation ne fait pas exception à cette nouvelle donne. De plus, les recherches descriptives se multiplient pour étudier les processus de traduction et d’interprétation ainsi que ceux des phénomènes linguistiques tels que le bilinguisme ou le plurilinguisme sous l’éclairage des sciences cognitives.

For this special issue of Tarih Dergisi, the Turkish Journal of History, we invite original research addressing questions arising from travel to, in, and from the Ottoman Empire and Turkish Republic. Essays may focus on the place of travel writing in historiography. They may also address any and all aspects of travel. We particularly welcome studies of travel works in any format – books, manuscripts, letters, diaries, journals, reports, log-books, cartography, web-blogs – by Ottoman, Turkish, Arab, Asiatic and African travellers of any period. Essays need not, however, be restricted to conventional travelogues by individual travellers. We welcome studies concerned with modes of travel (pedestrianism, equestrian travel, trains, cars, planes, boats), and with questions involving mass travel (migrancy, nomadism, deportation).

Transformation: Translation and languages
Issue 18 of Al-Kīmīya
Le numéro 18 d’Al-Kīmīya, la revue de la faculté de langues et de traduction de l’université Saint-Joseph de Beyrouth, reprend la thématique du numéro 17 : « Transformations : traduction et langues ». Le concept de transformation est présent dans plusieurs disciplines en sciences humaines et sociales ainsi qu’en sciences exactes. Il revêt à chaque fois une acception spécifique avec toutefois une dimension constante liée au changement. Transformer et/ou se transformer est inhérent sans doute à toute activité humaine. Le concept est réfléchi et étudié dans divers domaines allant de la philosophie et de la sociologie à la linguistique en passant par la biologie, les mathématiques et la chimie et bien d’autres. Nous proposons, encore une fois, pour le prochain numéro d’Al-Kīmīya de nous intéresser à ce concept dans les domaines des langues et de la traduction.
