Development archives: production, use and politicization
Revue internationale des études du développement n°256 (2024-3)
The first aim of this Special Issue is methodological: the renewed interest in development archives raises questions, particularly among young researchers, about how to identify, collect, and use them, and about their limits. The special issue will thus offer a set of methodological reference points to anyone wishing to use such archives. The second aim will be to lay the foundations for a more ambitious project to study development archives from a perspective at the crossroads of “connected history” and “global historical sociology”.

The public use of subordinate writings in the early modern and modern periods
We invite contributions dedicated to the dynamics of the re-signification of subaltern writings in public space in the early modern and modern period. Ordinary writings produced by subaltern actors (popular classes, men and women, childhood) in the transition from the private to the public sphere should therefore be investigated with particular attention to the spaces used, the practices adopted, the strategies of visibility (or obscuration) chosen, the appropriations by civil society, the policies of preservation of popular memory and the pedagogical- didactic use of writings.

Cet appel à contributions se positionne dans le cadre des travaux de la Chaire UNESCO « Intervention sociale non-violente » (ISNoV) portée par l’Université-IUT Bordeaux Montaigne. L’objectif du dispositif pluridisciplinaire de la Chaire est de réunir des savoirs et savoir-faire de professionnels et professionnelles de la recherche académique et de la formation, du « social », ainsi que d’experts et expertes de la non-violence (ou approches affinitaires) ; ce, pour mettre au travail la question des situations et formes de violences qui traversent aujourd’hui l’intervention sociale (IS), afin d’identifier, analyser les pratiques, les possibilités d’action et de réduction des processus d’enviolentement.

Learning from Territories / Teaching Territories
The 6th CIST (International College of Territorial Sciences) will focus on two questions: how to teach about territories and how to learn from territories. The objective of the following sessions is to highlight, on the one hand, the specific features of the teaching methods used in territorial sciences in the various disciplines involved, specifically by examining how they vary from one discipline to another and between countries; and on the other, to demonstrate how research in the territorial sciences develops specific methodologies for investigating places and individuals depending on whether the times being studied are periods of calm or of crisis; and on whether the territories in question are unremarkable in their ordinariness or exceptional in some way.

Rhythm is a central element in the creation of meaning in art, and its configuration is such that it requires a multi, inter and transdisciplinary approach. The difference of materials, procedures and events masks the resemblance of rhythmic phenomena that are similar in different arts and hides their identity or their homology. In the work of some scholars, the concepts do not seem to belong to a particular artistic discipline, being rather characteristic of the rhythmic phenomenon. The objective of this conference is to provide an instance for exchanging knowledge, concerns and aspirations for those who have been devoting themselves to the study of rhythm and artistic creation on the subject.

Archives des corps noirs dans l’art de la performance en Amérique latine : une esthétique diasporique ?
Ce colloque, dédié aux performances artistiques dans une dimension élargie, a pour ambition de porter un regard nouveau sur les répertoires de ces arts dans l’espace géographique, politique, social et économique de l’Amérique latine. Le but étant de discuter les transformations de la catégorie « performance » à partir de la présence du corps noir et du renouvellement de sources matérielles et immatérielles, terrains, méthodes et formats de recherche que cette présence demande. Pour cela, nous invitons à soumettre des propositions de contributions de formats divers (communications, interventions artistiques, entre autres) sur des travaux de performance qui relèvent de la scène artistique, manifestations visuelles, sonores et spatiales en Amérique latine, dans une perspective interdisciplinaire autour des esthétiques relevant de la diaspora africaine et des instrumentalisations des corps comme archives mémorielles.

Cordel Literature: new perspectives, new approaches

Due to its thematic, poetic, and expressive diversity, the cordel witnessed, narrated, and recorded several national history moments. Even though only men mastered the art of composing and singing in verse initially, little by little, women also took the stage. Nowadays, poets adjust national and international interest themes to their meter, rhyme, and clause. They denounce the system’s falsities and contradictions; they question decisions and mock hypocrisy without, however, losing that aura of playfulness and wonder that has consecrated the cordel among us. Originally handwritten and later in printed versions, cordel has maintained a strong connection with the voice and culture of fairs and squares, the fey and laughter of rogue heroes, and the feeling of indignation of the less favored and the exaltation of legendary braves since the end of the 19th century. More recent researchers drew attention to the relationship between cordel and its singers’ orality and body performance while singing poetry and African griots. In this thematic issue, we propose to host papers concerning the most varied studies on cordel literature and its cultural practices.

As part of its research programme “Networks and sociability at the court of France, 17th-18th centuries” (2017-…), the Centre de recherche du château de Versailles wishes to publish articles related to this subject on the Bulletin du Centre de recherche du château de Versailles. The court was a microcosm of society under the Ancien Régime. The royal family and the great noblemen were not only in each other’s company, but they also rubbed shoulders with a whole crowd of office-holders of greater or lesser importance, who ensured the smooth running of this mechanism.

Ce colloque international vise à interroger les résurgences, dans la littérature et les arts, des mythes et figures des peuples précoloniaux de l’archipel canarien (benahoaritas, bimbaches, canari, gomeritas, guanches, mahos, etc.) et de l’archipel caribéen (arawaks, kalinagos, karibs, taïnos, etc.), depuis le XIXe siècle jusqu’à nos jours. Il s’agit notamment de comprendre dans quelle mesure l’hantologie, « une ontologie assiégée par des fantômes » (Derrida, 2012 : 24), et la spectralité peuvent devenir des prismes pour penser la présence du précolonial dans les arts et la littérature des Canaries et des Caraïbes.

Call for papers - Epistemology and methodology
AntiAtlas of Epistemicide is a collaborative artistic and scientific project that brings together notices and synthetic articles on epistemicides, past or present, anywhere on the planet. The articles collected in this book will be accompanied by a map designed specifically for each example of an epistemicide. The question being as singular as it is unfathomable, this project does not have an encyclopedic aim, but to the contrary, to establish a non-exhaustive and subjective atlas, assumed to be both a scientific work and an artistic catalogue. As all disciplinary fields are concerned by this question, antiAtlas of Epistemicide is opening its call for contributions to a authors of all disciplinary affiliations.

Learning from territories / Teaching territories
In German (lehren / lernen) as in Arabic (تعليم / تعلم), a single letter distinguishes the concept of teaching from the concept of learning. Whether defined as a theoretical object of scientific knowledge that can be taught or as a body of practices that can be passed on, there is no escaping the need to address the issue of the relationship between the apparent universality of the concept of territory, on the one hand, and the variety of uses to which the term is put and the range of practices associated with it, on the other. The sixth CIST conference will focus on two questions: how to teach about territories (academic knowledge, empirical methods, disciplinary approaches, etc.) and how to learn from territories (observing, exploring, describing, experiencing, etc.).

Rapports sociaux de domination au prisme de l’engagement pédagogique et de l'interdisciplinarité (France-Argentine)
La démarche réflexive et critique consiste à prendre acte du fait que l’ethnographie est d’emblée publique, ce qui nécessite de considérer ses enjeux, même dans la relation pédagogique et dans l’ouverture interdisciplinaire qui s’ouvre dans le traitement des inégalités socio-spatiales. Cette journée d’étude explore ces questions à partir de terrains interdisciplinaires menées dans des contextes défavorisés par des acteurs pluriels, y compris des étudiant·es : quelles sont les complémentarités et les incompréhensions ? Ces dernières ne concernent pas seulement la rencontre avec les sujets de l’enquête, mais également, et peut-être d’abord, la négociation de l’enquête lorsqu’elle est portée par des disciplines, des cultures, des collectifs, des âges, des genres et des approches qu’on se doit d’analyser de manière complexe.

Le colloque « De l’événement à sa mise en récit : fictions, propagandes et polémiques historiographiques (Espagne, XVIe-XXIe siècles) » se tiendra les 9 et 10 décembre 2021 au Colegio de España (salle de conférence). Le colloque sera également retransmis dans son intégralité en ligne. Cette manifestation scientifique dédiée à l’histoire et à son écriture propose de se pencher sur les thématiques de l’appropriation, la transmission, la diffusion et la réception d’événements qui ont marqué l’histoire espagnole entre les XVIe et XXIe siècles. La perspective diachronique devrait permettre de mettre en lumière la naissance, la persistance et les possibles évolutions d’une manipulation des événements au moment de leur mise en récit par différents acteurs.

La universidad de Salamanca, Sorbonne Université y la École normale supérieure de Lyon se unen por primera vez para reflexionar conjuntamente acerca de las ediciones de textos medievales y humanistas. Frente al auge de trabajos doctorales cuyo tema es la edición (digital o no) de un texto medieval, este programa se ha concebido como una oportunidad para comparar metodologías y cruzar experiencias distintas. Durante este primer encuentro, en la universidad de Salamanca, los hispanistas franceses y los filólogos salmantinos se centrarán más precisamente en las ediciones de traducciones medievales.

The automatised transcription of manuscript sources with eScriptorium
Cette formation a pour objet la transcription automatisée de sources manuscrites, en anglais HTR (Handwritten Text Recognition), via l’outil eScriptorium, une alternative libre à Transkribus, développée à l’université PSL en partenariat avec INRIA, qui s’appuie sur l’outil de transcription automatisée Kraken et qui montre ses fruits en termes d’efficacité et de disponibilité du code source. Cette formation sera centrée sur une écriture répandue en Péninsule Ibérique entre le XIIIe et le XVe siècle, représentée par un manuscrit du scriptorium du roi Alphonse X, le Sage (1221-1284), autour duquel tournera la formation, et à partir duquel sera produit un modèle de reconnaissance automatique qui sera publié par la suite. Il s’agira ici de faire dialoguer philologie et humanités numériques.

Analysis of digital discourse: epistemological and methodological issues
La journée d’étude, qui aura comme thème l'analyse du discours des corpus numériques, est organisée par l’association ADAL (Analyse des discours de l'Amérique latine) avec le soutien de l’université de Limoges (laboratoire EHIC). Cet événement débattra autour des discours politiques et médiatiques en ligne et cela sur différents terrains de recherche. Seront acceptés des travaux portant sur les discours de blogs ou forums, sur les réseaux sociaux numériques ou encore sur les moyens de communication en ligne.

In a regressive approach, this thematic issue of the journal Essais envisages starting from the new configurations of the mass in the digital age to question in a fresh way the ambivalence constitutive of the historical reflection on the masses, at the same time fantasized for their intelligence and their potential of emancipation and depreciated for their incompetence and their passivity. This issue, in an interdisciplinary approach, aims to bring together specialists in new technologies, the practices and imaginaries they engender, with those interested in the theoretical, historical, fictional and figurative dimensions of this collective subject.
