Entre déterminisme et choix de société : éclairages pré- et protohistoriques
Table-ronde de la Société préhistorique française
Nos sociétés modernes sont confrontées à de rapides changements climatiques, environnementaux ou technologiques dont les conséquences sociales et culturelles peuvent largement être questionnées. L’archéologie préhistorique est aujourd’hui souvent convoquée, à tort ou à raison, pour mettre en perspective deux composantes de l’histoire des sociétés : le progrès et la résilience. Face aux réutilisations plus ou moins rigoureuses, dans ces débats, des savoirs scientifiques dont ils sont spécialistes, les acteurs et actrices des sciences pré- et protohistoriques doivent faire entendre leur voix. En organisant cette réunion scientifique qu’elle souhaite nourrir de faits archéologiques autant que de généralisations anthropologiques, la Société Préhistorique Française veut contribuer à faire progresser ce débat entre spécialistes de différentes périodes et thématiques de la Préhistoire et de la Protohistoire. Elle entend promouvoir et valoriser les acquis de l’archéologie dans les grands débats de société.

Politisations des archéologies : fouilles, conflits et mémoires
En nous montrant le site de Sobibor, où les nazis implantèrent un camp d’extermination avant de tenter d’en effacer les traces, le film « Sheol » d’Arnaud Sauli nous le rappelle : contemporainement ou des décennies plus tard, les restes matériels des activités humaines se retrouvent fréquemment au cœur d’enjeux et conflits juridiques, politiques ou encore moraux. Les savoirs « archéologiques », relatifs à ces restes matériels, jouent dès lors un rôle essentiel dans ces conflits, et qu’il s’agisse des savoirs développés scientifiquement que ceux possédés par tout un chacun. Dans ce séminaire, deux historiens des sciences et une ethnologue emploieront trois cas pour décliner les manières dont les rapports se nouent entre les enjeux du présent et ces restes matériels d’activités passées : qu’il s’agisse d’activités anciennes ou récentes, belliqueuses ou quotidiennes, et relatives aux constructions nationales en des contextes proches ou lointains, étatiques ou infra-étatiques (Suisse, Palestine et Israël, Pays Basque et Espagne).

Séminaire d’anthropologie diachronique (ethnologie et archéologie)
Approche interdisciplinaire du thème « Roches vivantes. Incarnation, matérialités, cosmogonies » pris dans une double approche ethnologique / anthropologique et archéologique, ce qui permet d’aborder les terrains et les concepts à partir des pierres naturelles ou travaillées par l’homme. Cela peut être entrepris dans le domaine de la culture matérielle, par exemple de la pierre taillée, gravée ou creusée, ou dans celui de la modélisation anthropique du paysage pour des raisons stratégiques, agricoles, symboliques ou esthétiques.

La revue Antiquitas qui est à son troisième numéro a pour vocation de permettre une large diffusion des savoirs savants et profanes sur l’Afrique profonde en privilégiant la longue durée et d’assurer une plus grande proximité entre l’Afrique et l’Occident européen par un passage au tamis de tout ce qui fonde leur existence. Elle offre une tribune de réflexion ouverte à la période de l’Antiquité et du Moyen Âge pour explorer les dynamiques culturelles, religieuses, politiques, artistiques, économiques, sociales, sans pour autant écarter les approches comparatives.

Ce séminaire collectif entend reconstruire la constellation de certaines problématiques et débats noués à des points de croisement ou de tension entre anthropologie et philosophie, en France et en Allemagne après 1945. Cette année nous nous intéressons aux manuscrits du premier Foucault autour de la question anthropologique et de la phénoménologie, à la théorie de la conscience et de l’inconscient chez Henri Ey, et aux sources paléoanthropologiques dans l’anthropologie phénoménologique de Blumenberg.

This international symposium brings together transdisciplinary researchers in order to renew the outlook on European Protohistory. Protohistoric societies having left few texts, can sites or artefacts tell us about the immaterial production of knowledge? Recent researches on comparatism, in archaeoastronomy, ethnomathematics, paleopathology or bioarchaeology, show that these societies produced knowledge and transmitted it, raising the question of the exchange of this knowledge and technologies. The texts produced by the contemporaries of the Celts show a complex and codified culture, corroborated by the found artefacts. Our gaze must therefore depart from a disciplinary compartmentalization, researches combining archaeology, astronomy, artificial intelligence, mathematics, provide interesting answers on this question.

Assessment of the National Mapping Project
Several research projects have been carried out over the last ten years on the general theme of Mesolithic and Protohistoric deep pits - mainly Neolithic and Bronze Age. In the course of discussions and thanks to field discoveries, some milestones have been set, both from a methodological point of view and in terms of scientific achievements in typology and chronology. This round table marks a stage in the project undertaken within Inrap in 2015 by reviewing the state of regional discoveries and the main lessons that can be drawn from this theme at the national level.

What does it mean to be nomadic in the past, present and future ?
The institut Sociétés en Mutations en Mouvement (SoMuM) is joining forces with the Museum national d'Histoire naturelle to organise a symposium on nomadism. Nomadism is one of the rare ways of life that can question and link prehistory to current societal and global crises (environmental, health, governmental, economic). But what does it mean to be nomadic? How are nomads defined and define themselves? How have these populations adapted and still adapting to their natural, cultural and political environments? What future can they envision? These questions are at the center of the theme of the international and interdisciplinary colloquium “What does it mean to be nomadic in the past, present and future?”.

In-betweenness: in search of intermediaries
After more than a century of research, the humanities have developed increasingly refined concepts and tools to identify the characteristics of cultural exchange. Since the creation of the diffusionist paradigm, which often tried to study the circulation of cultural objects without specifically identifying the actors, numerous works have made it possible to dissect the transfer processes and the individuals involved. Concepts and tools inherited from anthropology and ethnology such as acculturation, cultural transfers, métissage, middle ground or hybridization have attempted to account for the phenomena resulting from intercultural exchanges. However, only more recently has attention been paid to intermediaries and their role in the various processes.

This session will welcome papers presenting other case-studies of archaeological projects integrating an in-depth use of archive materials. The organisation of research projects: who led the projects, and what division of labour between archaeologists, historians or archivists are at stake? The seminar Rencontres d’histoire et philosophie des sciences aims to promote a history and philosophy of science in which, in the words of Aldo Mieli (1935), “the unity of scientific thought” is “brought to the forefront, in relation to the multifaceted developments of particular sciences”. In order to do this, it seems imperative to us to involve all those who have an interest in the history and philosophy of science in its most diverse expressions in order to consolidate a community which, to exist, must regain its collegiality.
