Dans une perspective interdisciplinaire, avec des approches littéraires, historiques, anthropologiques, sociologiques ou théologiques, nous posons la question de la maternité en examinant des récits sacrés et hagiographiques ainsi que d’autres témoignages historiques et contemporains.

The ERC MAP Seminar “The Names of the Gods! 5: Who named the gods? Utterers, addressers, ritual agents” pursues the investigation on the systems of naming of the divine. This year, it focuses on the human agents in the process of naming the divine, whether they are producers of a discourse on the deities, addressers in a communication with the deities, or even experts in charge of a ritual knowledge. What agency do men and women exercise in the production of a specific denomination of the divine? How can we question their choices, their anchoring in a tradition or their innovation strategies?

Le webinar est consacré aux dernières phases résidentielles des villas de l’Antiquité tardive et sur les phases d’occupation postérieures de réutilisation et de réemploi de ces sites présents dans les régions de Toscane, des Marches, de l’Ombrie, des Abruzzes, du Molise et du Latium. Il s'agit de présenter et de discuter de l'état des connaissances sur les villas de l'Antiquité tardive (IVe-VIIe siècle après J.-C.) dans les régions susmentionnées, avec des communications allant de l’étude de cas à la synthèse régionale, afin de vérifier le « maintien » des modèles interprétatifs du phénomène d’occupation des villas durant l’Antiquité tardive.

Ce site web est la restitution des travaux des contributeurs bénévoles qui ont participé à la transcription et à l’encodage au format informatique TEI des testaments, via la plateforme de transcription collaborative mise en ligne en janvier 2021.

Imagining the Future of Multilingualism
Education and Society at a Turning Point
Since 2008, the Conseil Européen pour les Langues / European Language Council (CEL/ELC) has hosted a Forum every two years. These Fora seek to bring together representatives of higher education institutions, of European institutions and organisations, such as, for example, the European Commission, the European Parliament, and the Council of Europe, and of European associations like the European University Association (EUA) as well as scholars with a special interest in European integration, policy development, and multilingualism. At the centre of 2020 discussions will be the role that Higher Education can and should play in the promotion and development of multilingualism as a key aspect of European cooperation – related to facets such as language policy, internationalisation, language and knowledge, education and mobility, to mention just a few. In this context, participants will also reflect on the future role of the CEL/ELC by identifying and analysing new challenges that have arisen in our changing world.

Que ce soit dans les domaines à enjeux environnementaux comme le climat, l’énergie, la biodiversité ou l’eau, ou dans les domaines de la démographie, de l’immigration ou de l’éducation, le bassin méditerranéen se révèle un territoire particulièrement intéressant pour traiter de l’action publique à l’épreuve des transformations socio-environnementales globales : pour voir comment se documentent et s’enregistrent les évolutions, comment s’alimentent les politiques publiques dans leur ambition prospective, notamment sous les mots d’ordre de la « transition » et du « développement durable ». Ce travail de post-doctorat devra examiner comment la pensée prospective utilise ses différents outils, notamment l'approche par les scénarios, pour penser des défis présents et futurs, aussi bien pour les volets de protection de la santé et de l’environnement que pour la promotion d’activités plus attentives à ces enjeux.

PhD students from the XXXIV cycle of the joint PhD Programme in Historical, Geographical, Anthropological Studies (University of Padova, Ca' Foscari Venice, Verona) are happy to invite you to their conference, titled "Crises and Infrastructures: Responses to Change Between Materiality and Immateriality. A Dialogue Between Anthropology, Geography and History". We will be exploring the interactions between various examples of Crises and Infrastructural response, trying to push for an interdisciplinary dialogue. We aim to reflect not only on the role of infrastructures as means of problem-solving, but also on the varied outcomes of critical moments. Le XXIXe congrès préhistorique de France se tiendra à Toulouse du 31 mai au 04 juin 2021 sur le thème : « Hiatus, lacunes et absences : identifier et interpréter les vides archéologiques ». Il est organisé conjointement par la Société préhistorique française et l'UMR 5608 TRACES. Au sein de la thématique F : « La mort évanescente : quelles pratiques funéraires pour les aires et périodes pauvres en sépultures ? » nous organisons la session suivante « Des vivants sans tombes et des morts sans habitats : évolution des pratiques funéraires du Néolithique au début du premier âge du Fer en France et en Europe occidentale » (session F1) pendant laquelle nous proposons de discuter des vides archéologiques dans le contexte funéraire, qu'ils soient chronologiques, géographiques, matériels ou démographiques.

Censorship and blind spots: the BBC’s silences
The BBC's reputation for impartiality and independence is one of the cornerstones of its value system, which also underpins its self-declared mission to "inform, educate, and entertain". However, these values have constantly been redefined as several forms of censorship and self-censorship have been applied in the context of conflict with political or economic powers. This means that the role and independence of the BBC as a public service needs to be questioned and the grey areas and silences of the BBC from its creation in 1922 to the beginning of its digital era in 1995 need to be the objects of inquiry.
