In this localised / regionalised in-person special topics symposium, we are seeking to think and move through the role that popular, social, and vernacular dance plays (or does not play or only marginally plays or should ideally play) in higher education institutions in the Australasian as well as the broader Asia Pacific region, and to further reflect (on) the reality of how our dance communities interact as well as how our dance scholars interact in between and across these areas.

Nous espérons, de cette manière, témoigner du dynamisme actuel de l'analyse des réseaux sociaux dans le monde francophone. Dans cette session interdisciplinaire, tant méthodologique qu’empirique, nous accueillerons des chercheurs qui, soit, appliquent les méthodes des réseaux sociaux, soit s’intéressent au réseau social en tant qu'objet fondamental de recherche.

28th University of Southern Queensland Postgraduate and Early Career Researcher (PGECR) Group research symposium
Symposium presentations can take a variety of formats, including but not limited to conceptual papers, methodological papers, sharing research data, debates, performances, provocations, empirical papers. Presentations may engage with the nominated symposium theme in a number of ways, and you are welcome to present research that is at any stage of development, from conception through to reflection. All fields of research are welcome, as are all levels of research experience. Each presentation will be allocated 15 minutes, with discussion following each symposium session.

Traces, narratives and representations of cannibalism in Oceania
Où en sont les connaissances scientifiques à propos des pratiques anthropophages en Océanie, auxquelles il est encore souvent fait référence de nos jours ? Le colloque qui se tiendra à l’université de la Nouvelle-Calédonie propose d’interroger les sources historiques, archéologiques, littéraires, orales, juridiques ou judiciaires qui évoquent le cannibalisme. Nous invitons les chercheur-ses des différentes sciences sociales et humaines à apporter leur contribution à cet « état de l’art », vingt ans après la grande exposition « Kannibals et Vahinés ». La réflexion pourra s'appuyer sur des études de cas, sur une analyse épistémologique ou méthodologique, l’objectif n'étant pas de prouver ou d'infirmer les pratiques cannibales, mais bien d'en interroger les sources, les stratégies d'appropriation et d'en déconstruire les discours.

Maurice Leenhardt, Context and heritage
Le Colloque « Maurice Leenhardt, Contexte et héritages » se propose de saisir Maurice Leenhardt à travers un réseau de relations personnelles et/ou institutionnelles, afin de dégager la complexité et les contradictions du missionnaire-ethnologue, ainsi que l’influence ambivalente de son œuvre littéraire et scientifique jusqu’à aujourd’hui. Ceci concerne les relations de Leenhardt avec des personnalités particulières, mais également ses relations avec les sphères sociale, politique, intellectuelle ou religieuse de l’époque. Les influences théoriques, le parcours personnel, les contacts, éclairent en particulier certains aspects idéologiques de la pratique missionnaire de Maurice LEENHARDT. Le contexte colonial et historique dans lequel s’inscrivent ses séjours en Nouvelle Calédonie explique pareillement l’héritage ambivalent autour d’une personnalité qui suscite encore aujourd’hui un mélange de respect et de méfiance.

Australian and New Zealand Association for Medieval and Early Modern Studies Conference (ANZAMEMS 2019)
Categories and boundaries help us to define our fields of knowledge and subjects of inquiry, but can also contain and limit our perspectives. The concept of category emerges etymologically from the experience of speaking in an assembly, a dialogic forum in which new ways of explaining can emerge. Boundaries and horizons are intertwined in their meanings, pointing to the limits of subjectivity, and inviting investigation beyond current understanding into new ways of connecting experience and knowledge.

Despite living in societies increasingly marked by individualism and selfishness, in the modern world we see an increase in mentoring programs. Mentoring is grounded on a mutual commitment towards professional and intellectual development and forges a bond between mentor and mentee. This pattern exists in the academic, professional and private sectors, where coaches of all kinds multiply. We wish to explore the mentor-mentee relationship in an interdisciplinary context. We invite papers which explore the theme and the practice of mentoring in literature, history, art, performing arts, social sciences, and in the professional world.

Le système éducatif calédonien à l'heure du destin commun
Dans la seconde moitié du XXe siècle, la Nouvelle-Calédonie s’est engagée dans la voie de l’élaboration de son propre système éducatif. Il est l’une des conséquences du processus d’émancipation initié par les Accords de Matignon puis l’Accord de Nouméa. Bien qu’inachevé, ce processus a, au fil du temps, franchi des étapes importantes, avec notamment les transferts par l’État de la compétence de l’enseignement du premier degré en 2000 et de celle d’une partie du second degré en 2012. Cette évolution donne aujourd’hui aux institutions calédoniennes, en particulier au Gouvernement, au Congrès et au Sénat coutumier de la Nouvelle-Calédonie, aux Provinces et aux communes, des leviers d’action et d’intervention très importants.

Judging the Past in a Post-Cold War World
The collapse of the Soviet Union accelerated the search for justice and truth on the part of many millions of people whose lives had been overshadowed by the cold war, in many countries, for nearly half a century. Demands for justice and for recognition of suffering and loss have resulted in national Truth and Reconciliation Commissions, prosecution (or attempted prosecution) of state officials, politicians and military officers and the construction of monuments and memorials as sites of memory. They have inspired an outpouring of literary and artistic works, and a flourishing film and documentary industry. This conference aims to trace these various ways of judging the past both in the countries at the centre of the Cold War and in those that were swept up in the wake of its confrontations. How have we and how can we come to terms with a past that is still so present? The organisers seek contributions on attempts at redress, for example, legal and social, or through the arts, media and literature.

Regards croisés sur la littéracie en Océanie
25ème colloque CORAIL
Ce 25ème colloque CORAIL souhaite contribuer à faire découvrir et explorer le terme de « littéracie », voire en cerner les limites ou les paradoxes. Il s'agit aussi de mettre en avant les recherches et travaux récents qui visent à mieux connaître les facteurs favorisant d'une part le développement de la littéracie des élèves du pré-scolaire au secondaire et des adultes en formation, et d'autre part, son lien avec leur réussite sociale - et scolaire. La vocation de ce colloque est pluridisciplinaire, rassemblant anthropologues, sociologues, historiens, géographes, archéologues, (socio)linguistes, archéologues, ethnomusicologues, chercheurs mais aussi enseignants, formateurs, professionnels de la formation pour adultes, de la lecture publique (bibliothèques, médiathèques) et des médias, milieux associatifs, les médecins, etc.

Critical heritage studies have been popularized by way of various disciplines, and several recent studies have emphasized “the infinite specificity of heritage and patrimonialisation”, and at other times, the differentiated paradigms of heritagization, patrimonialisation, heritageification, etc During the session "Ideas and ways of heritage: Scientific thought, praxeology and social knowledge in patrimonialisation" we will explore conceptions used in heritage-making, as they appear or are particularized in the scientific literature, local expertise and the collective intelligence in various regions of the world.

Cette recherche sur les différentes formes des et autour des collectivités politiques d’Océanie présente de multiples intérêts.Tout d’abord, sous l’égide du CNRS, elle sera le modèle même de manifestation scientifique propre à alimenter la recherche Ensuite, d’un point de vue situé, cette manifestation sur l’Océanie se tiendra en Océanie. Elle fera un temps de Nouméa, en Nouvelle-Calédonie, une capitale scientifique, et attestera qu’on peut aux antipodes de Paris mener recherches et controverses doctrinales d’autant plus intenses qu’à proximité de leur objet. Pour la Nouvelle-Calédonie, à ce moment de l’évolution de son évolution institutionnelle, en 2011, pendant l’avant dernière mandature de l’Accord de Nouméa et en vue des moments décisifs, cette manifestation constituera une essentielle expertise préalable.
