Identités culturelles et monde durable
Ce colloque se donne à voir comme une réflexion sur deux notions essentielles dont la première est les « identités culturelles » et la seconde le « monde durable ». La pluralité des peuples à la surface de Terre attestent d’une diversité de cultures que composent autant de caractéristiques identitaires, certainement, porteuses de valeurs à partager. Que ces peuples soient du Sud ou du Nord, de l’Est ou de l’Ouest, il convient d’interroger, sans nécessairement les pratiquer, leurs cultures dans les approches des questions identitaires. L’humanité étant le dénominateur commun de notre existence, sa pérennité requiert une attention de toutes et de tous. Dans cet ordre, ce colloque se propose de convoquer des réflexions sur la sauvegarde de notre monde en s’inspirant de la tradition orale et de la modernité.

Intersections of collective and private identity with religion and spirituality
Ever since the very first human social formations, the spheres of religion and identity have intersected significantly. Examples of the endless forms by which collective and individual identities are interwoven throughout the entirety of our human existence are embedded in our historical records. How is identity constructed, shaped, and maintained by religious activities? How do religions change the identities of their converts? The upcoming conference hosted by the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Szeged aims to open a symposium where topics concerning the intersections of religiosity and identity – should it be private or public – can be discussed in a broader sense.

The organisers of the HHH-2023 conference invite paper proposals from their colleagues in the Human Sciences who can elucidate for their peers the hermeneutical and semiotic principles which were operative in the ideas that peoples in earlier times and in non-Western cultures entertained about the languages they spoke. We are particularly interested in proposals which investigate the belief that, in one guise or another, language is “a gift from the Gods to men”.

A socio-historical look on “inconvenient” objects in the discipline
The purpose of this workshop is to revisit the question of “religion” in political science, by assessing the ways in which the discipline has dealt with it (separately from debates about its definitions) over the past forty years. We wish to further discussions that were initiated in sociology (Lambert, Michelat, and Piette 1997; Béraud, Duriez, and Gasquet 2018) and developed more recently in political science (Jouanneau and Raison du Cleuziou 2012; Frégosi and Silhol 2017), towards a simultaneously epistemological and empirical work on the legitimacy and blind spots with such objects (Altglas and Wood 2018).

Cartographie et territoire de l’époque médiévale à nos jours
Nous proposons de poursuivre une réflexion sur les circonscriptions intra-diocésaines (archidiaconés, archiprêtrés, doyennés… ou plus récemment « zones pastorales », « unités pastorales », « secteurs paroissiaux »…) sous l’angle de l’histoire des territoires. Ces circonscriptions contribuent pleinement à la structuration de l’espace diocésain, comme échelons intermédiaires dont le statut d’interface entre paroisses et diocèse mérite d’être interrogé pour éclairer les modalités de gouvernement de l’Église et de participation à la vie religieuse.

Beyond the general impact on social interactions and practices, to what extent are the new social media a factor that promotes expressions of polarization?

Protestant Revival Movements in the Francophone World (Africa, Asia, Caribbean, Pacific)
Origins, Currents, Developments and Diversification from the Nineteenth Century to the Present
This Congress, intends to broaden that research to include, in addition to Europe, Francophone Africa and Madagascar, Asia, the Caribbean and the Pacific. From the beginning of the nineteenth century, this geographical and linguistic area (like others) has been to the benefit of the deployment of revival movements through mission. These movements have generated new Christendoms and ecclesial communities, many of which have emancipated themselves from inherited/exported models. Awakenings have taken specific forms and diversified. Persons and groups within traditional cultures and religions have shaped new antitheses (rupture) and/or syntheses (continuity). These Réveil/Revival influenced forms and visions have enriched the world’s religious heritage. This conference will give attention to the origins, currents, development, and diversification of the Réveil/Revival movements/networks/traditions from the Nineteenth Century to the Present, focusing on the Francophone world.

Les Cahiers d’études du religieux lancent un appel à contribution dont l’objectif est d’interroger les liens étroits et complexes qu’entretiennent tradition et religion. La religion, en tant qu’héritage de croyances et de rites, se fonde nécessairement sur une tradition conçue comme transmission et conservation d’un dépôt de génération en génération. Dans le même temps, la tradition peut être conçue ou perçue comme une dépendance pathologique au passé et un enfermement au sein d’une identité religieuse donnée. C’est cette relation que ce numéro thématique a pour ambition d’éclairer, dans une perspective interdisciplinaire et transhistorique.

Ce colloque se propose de réfléchir sur l’avenir de la francophonie dans l’espace afro-méditerranéen. Il a pour objectif de cerner les enjeux que la francophonie soulève dans ce contexte mondial marqué par le bouleversement géopolitiques, avec les défis qui se posent dans plusieurs pays francophones ; défis culturels, scientifiques, sociaux, politiques et économiques. Les propositions retenues privilégient une démarche théorique, analytique, historique et empirique.

What has been the impact so far of the Document on Human Fraternity concerning the coexistence of Christians and Muslims around the globe? As in previous editions, the Congress will bring together the perspectives of scholars of multiple disciplines. It will be organized according to three main areas of analysis, while allowing for overlaps: sociojuridical, geopolitical, theological-dialogical.

La représentation de l’exil est susceptible de faire l’objet d’une discursivité particulièrement polyphonique. Outre le rapport complexe à la mémoire qu’il implique et l’acte poïétique solitaire dans lequel il engage tout créateur, le thème de l’exil peut donner lieu à différents discours (liste non exhaustive) : discours littéraire : problématiques identitaires, désenchantement…; discours poétique qui met en exergue la valeur esthétique du lieu originel ; discours psychologique qui met l’accent sur les affres du déracinement ; discours sociologique qui accorde toute leur importance aux pratiques sociales en vigueur ; discours mythologique axé sur les structures mentales de la population ; discours historique auquel s’associent ou non des considérations d’ordre politique, etc.

New Articulations of Identity in Contemporary Aesthetics
Over the last several decades, vibrant conversations have unfolded around existing constructions of identities—often seen as fixed, narrow categories—and a movement toward fluid and intersectional conceptions of the self and community, these discourses having greatly impacted both the theory and practice leading to a radical shift in contemporary aesthetics. Critical debates that destabilize fixed notions of identity have engendered new perspectives, particularly in work critiquing issues of essentialism, heterosexism, monolithic affiliation, and other culturally imposed limitations. This Special Issue seeks to magnify the questions of belongingness raised in contemporary art and generate a multicultural and interdisciplinary discussion that centers around visual practice as a crucial site of social and institutional commentary.

Dans le sillage des travaux de Sabrina Mervin, ce colloque international aborde la vie et l’œuvre d’al-Sanūsī à travers des approches croisées, entre l’islamologie et les sciences sociales. Ainsi, si la doctrine et l’œuvre du théologien seront évidemment abordées, les aspects anthropologiques de la transmission et la traduction de ses traités en contexte africain ou asiatique seront également mis en avant. Enfin, l’émergence récente d’un enseignement des ʿAqāʾid dans les mosquées et instituts en ligne en contexte européen et anglo-saxon doit susciter l’attention des sociologues, à l’heure du retour d’un traditionalisme « maḏhabique ».

Regimes of belief, regimes of truth
The choice of the title "Régimes de croyance, régimes de vérité" (regimes of belief, regimes of truth) meets two requirements. The first is the desire not to restrict the analysis of the non-religious to a study by negation or absence. Whether we speak of agnosticism, atheism, indifference, irreligion or 'nones', the terms used to analyse this phenomenon is too often presented as the negative side of the religious. However, it seems necessary to show its positive components, which is made possible by using the terms 'belief' and 'truth'. The second requirement is to better understand what distinguishes non-religious from religious. The reflections carried out during the seminar which preceded this Conference showed that the boundaries between these two universes of meaning are shifting, and that they share many characteristics. How are regimes of belief and regimes of truth deployed and articulated in a post-secular world?

Le dossier est innovant en ce qu’il permettra une réflexion sur la communication en situation de crise liée à une guerre en cours. Il proposera une analyse critique d’un cas de guerre d’information et de communication à portée mondiale. Ce numéro spécial constituera un espace où les experts en communication issus de milieux académiques pourront discuter du cadrage communicationnel de la guerre et de ses implications à long terme.

À travers cet appel à contribution, nous proposons de nous interroger sur les fluctuations du rapport au religieux au cours des trajectoires biographiques des individus (conversion, période de mise en veille, réinvestissement, sortie de la religion). Nous nous intéressons notamment à l’évolution des formes d’articulation ou de disjonction entre la croyance et l’appartenance religieuse, à la matérialité de la croyance, et à l’entrelacement entre engagement religieux et engagement politique.

The Stuff of Tradition: Materiality and Media in Folklore Studies
In the forthcoming 11th international conference of Young folklorists, we seek to examine the complex relationship of folklore studies with materiality by juxtaposing it with recent re-orientations to media and (re)mediation. The conference aims to explore various materialities inherent to our data and methodology – whether obvious or ambiguous – and rethink their position in our field. We invite scholars to discuss both academic and vernacular notions on the transmission of tradition and its social and material embeddedness. We also encourage methodological discussion on how folklore scholars are themselves bound by various (new) media and technologies of documentation, archiving, and presentation.
