  Histoire de feux, feux dans l’histoire

  Histoire et anthropologie des incendies de végétations de l’époque moderne à nos jours dans le Bassin Méditerranéen

  Cet appel à communications vise à apporter un éclairage historique et anthropologique sur les incendies dans l’espace rural et forestier. Il portera, à la fois sur le feu destructeur, qui ravage les espaces, mais aussi sur le feu maîtrisé, outil dans la mise en valeur agricole et pastorale. L’incendie est un fait social qui s’ancre dans un contexte socio-historique et anthropologique. Car l’usage du feu, et ses débordements, sont au centre de tout un ensemble de relations entre les hommes et leur environnement. L’objectif de cet appel est de permettre, dans le cadre d’un colloque, aux chercheurs en sciences humaines et sociales d’interroger ces relations.

  In what places, with what goals, in what forms, according to what modalities, to what degree and on what scale are young people committed today? What responsibilities do young people take on and intend to pursue in the various classic fields of commitment, such as politics, associations and trade unions? Are the categories of commitment or disengagement relevant to understanding young people’s relationships with the school institution, work and family? What links are forged between different forms and spheres of youth engagement? How do geographical and historical contexts and societal frameworks influence them? Can we observe new modalities, new spaces and specific vectors of commitment or forms of “demobilisation” - or even non-commitment - among young people?

  L’humour méditerranéen : spécificités, interférences et créations

  Sans faire l’histoire de l’humour en Méditerranée, nous comptons engager une réflexion qui tente d’interroger les particularités de l’humour relatives à chaque espace géographique. Dans un second temps, nous mettons l’accent sur les matrices, les caractéristiques communes qui conditionnent la gestion et la régie de l’humour dans cet espace de partage partant du fait que les nombreux contacts, complices ou « belliqueux », entre les différents espaces méditerranéens ne sont pas sans créer des connivences, des socles civilisationnels et culturels communs qui conditionnent et régissent les différents champs de la création : verbale, artistique, littéraire… Des dénominateurs communs aptes à façonner un comportement et une expression humoristique spécifiques.

  Mediterranean Diasporas

  Settlements of Religious Minorities in Exile (16th-18th centuries)

  The monographic issue will deal with the settlements of religious minorities in their Mediterranean places of exile during the Early Modern Period. We intend to draw on two thematic issues: a colonization project, spontaneous or planned, not necessarily successful, but a testing ground of social coexistence between denizens of different origins which offers opportunities for the visibility of migrants, despite religious divergences; the mechanisms of negotiation between refugees and local authorities that favor settlements in urban or rural settings. The case studies that we are looking for will tie different religious ethnic groups (Christians, Jews, and Muslims, at least), geographic spaces (with the idea of a broad Mediterranean), and centuries (16^th-18^th).

  The “civilisation du journal” in the Mediterranean from the Late Eighteenth Century to the World War I

  L’objectif de ce colloque international est d’approfondir la connaissance des formes prises par la « civilisation du journal » qui s’est développée à partir de la fin du XVIII^e siècle, et jusqu’à la première guerre mondiale, dans les espaces méditerranéens qui, sans avoir été précurseurs, ont aussi connu un grand développement journalistique. L’approche se veut sociale, culturelle et matérielle, dans la lignée d’un renouvellement historiographique récent des études sur la presse, afin de saisir la manière dont les journaux ont été produits et les entreprises de presse gérées, de saisir toutes les formes de circulations et pratiques journalistiques et d’interroger le rapport de ces journaux à l’image.

  A Transatlantic Mediterranean?

  Circulations, influences and civilian and military cooperation between the United States and Southern European and Turkish spaces (1945-1980's)

  The objective of this meeting is to contribute to a transnational and decompartmentalized history of the circulations between Mediterranean Europe and the United States between 1945 and the 1980s, which will make it possible to apprehend these relations from a global point of view and to analyze the way in which these links were able to generate circulations of influence between Mediterranean countries. The aim is to combine diplomatic approaches with the socio-history of these actors and with the analysis of the circulation of knowledge and modes of governmentality, by placing Atlantic military issues and policies in the wider context of intellectual mobility and cross-practices. The European and Turkish Mediterranean is understood here in a broad and political sense, from Portugal to the confines of the Anatolian peninsula. Similarly, the ambition is to see how these relations between Mediterranean Europe and the Atlantic space may have had effects on the Southern and Eastern shores of the Mediterranean Sea, whether during or after the period of colonial domination.

  Changements environnementaux et espaces urbains littoraux méditerranéens : qualité de ville, qualité de vie

  La qualité de l’environnement dans les espaces littoraux méditerranéens se présente aujourd’hui, comme une préoccupation urbaine, socio économique et politique ayant des enjeux liés à la qualité de vie et au développement local. La fragilité de ces espaces côtiers et les multiples pressions qu’ils subissent constituent autant de préoccupations environnementales communes qui ne cessent de tarauder les esprits des chercheurs et des décideurs. Compte tenu de la complexité de la situation, plusieurs nouveaux enjeux liés au changement climatique sont à prendre également en compte et notamment ceux liés aux changements environnementaux et générés par la concentration urbaine, le tourisme de masse, les rejets industriels et toxiques, les risques d’érosion, les pollutions induites par les activités des populations, etc. D'autre part, les évolutions urbaines et technologiques ne sont pas certes sans effets sur la réduction et/ou l’aggravation des risques environnementaux dans les villes méditerranéennes.

  Migration Narratives in the Global Mediterranean (1450–1850)

  The H2020 Interconnecting Histories and Archives for Migrant Agency (ITHACA) project focuses on narratives of migration in both past and present, analysing them in a rigorous historical framework, through an interdisciplinary, comparative, and transnational approach. ITHACA aims to create a digital platform, that brings together migration narratives from the XV^th century to the present, enhancing the historical documentation and the testimonies of past and present migrants’ experiences. In this context, the ITHACA Project Coordination invites scholars to submit essay proposals for a contributory volume on this topic.

  The Invention of Greek origins in the textual and visual cultures of pre-modern Europe (1100-1600)

  The ERC Advanced Grant AGRELITA Project studies the Reception of Ancient Greece in pre-modern French Literature and Illustrations of Manuscripts and Printed Books (1320-1550) : How invented memories shaped the identity of European communities. These workshops aim to explore the uses, functions and purposes of the discourses on Greek origins and the polysemy of this concept between 1100 and 1600, in European textual, visual and material cultures, hinging on the following questions : how the authors and artists considered the notion of origin(s)? What both unites and distinguishes it from heritage ? Why Greeks ? Which Greece(s) are thought of as origins ? Whose origins are these ? What modalities of representation and what processes of appropriation appear? For what purposes and for what audiences?

  Travelling Matters: rereading, reshaping, reusing objects across the Mediterranean

  The workshop “Travelling matters: rereading, reshaping, reusing objects across the Mediterranean” intends to tackle objects as sources and subjects of the history of cross-cultural encounters in innovative ways. We intend to discuss a most diverse array of objects flowing in all directions and to concentrate on the “second-handedness” of displaced objects: how and why moving objects acquire new functions and new meanings, and with what consequences for the relations between the communities involved? These perspectives demand a broad chronology, extending from antiquity to the present-day, and for the intersection between different time frames, from the relatively narrow scale of individual objects being displaced across the Mediterranean to the much larger one of the histories of their reinterpretation and repurposing.

  Habib Tengour, du projet anthropo-socologique au projet poétique

  Surréalisme et imaginaire d’une société multiculturelle et ouverte à l’Autre. Réécriture du réel et poétique inter-/intra-textuelle

  Résolument ouverte sur l’autre, l’œuvre poétique de Habib Tengour est porteuse d’un projet de société orienté vers la volonté de mettre à profit toutes les « possibilités gaspillées » (Le Vieux de la Montagne, p. 29) des échanges culturels, linguistiques et intellectuels. Ce projet s'interprète par une volonté d’innovation esthétique, qui laisse poindre un projet politique fort, celui de la libération de toutes formes de contraintes, tant littéraires et linguistiques que morales et culturelles. C’est ce double projet, esthétique et socio-politique, que le colloque vise à mettre en exergue : outre la question de la représentation de l’entre-deux-cultures, de la création d’une littérature-monde et d’une interlangue propre, le colloque s’intéressera aux questions de l’interculturalité, de l’inter et intra-textualité et de l’humour par Habib Tengour, mais aussi de la traduction de ses œuvres, qui requièrent un effort interprétatif particulier.
