The Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) is recruiting one PhD student to work under the supervision of Prof. Jacques Wels on the UHealth (Trade Unions and Workers’ Health) project that is funded by the European Research Council (ERC). The core purpose of the PhD programme will be to address the association between workers’ trajectories of union membership and mental and physical health throughout the lifecourse using a set of UK-based and international (Japan, US, Korea and Germany) longitudinal datasets.

Profile

We are looking for a dynamic researcher with a background in public health, epidemiology, psychology, sociology, statistics, economics or social science and a knowledge and/or interest for the use of quantitative methods for longitudinal data. Experience using the R software and longitudinal or cohort data would be an asset but interest and experience in using other datasets or Stata would be considered. The language used for interview and throughout the project will be English.

Education Level

Master Degree or equivalent.

Conditions

We offer a full-time 4-year (48 months) contract at the Université libre de Bruxelles, department of philosophy and social science. The funding includes provision for specific training and scientific stays and collaborations with UK and Japan partners. Starting gross salary will be around 3.423,45 euros per month (which corresponds to +/- 2.360 euros per month).. 

The start date for this position should be between the 1^st of March and the 1^st of April 2024.
