Abstract

A global scenario marked by multifaceted crises - environmental, health, geopolitical and social - is challenging our ability to rethink real work, reduce risks and support productive activity. In both the public and private sectors, facing an increasingly uncertain environment makes it necessary to develop capacities to anticipate threats and manage critical risks in order to avoid crises and recover when this has not been achieved. Laboreal invites researchers involved in these topics to submit their work and contribute to the publication of this issue. Papers detailing field experiences, which provide access to real work, will be given priority. The articles will be published in one of the journal's two languages (Spanish or Portuguese).

Argument

A global scenario marked by multifaceted crises - environmental, health, geopolitical and social - is challenging our ability to rethink real work, reduce risks and support productive activity. In both the public and private sectors, facing an increasingly uncertain environment makes it necessary to develop capacities to anticipate threats and manage critical risks in order to avoid crises and recover when this has not been achieved. Resilience in the face of a crisis depends on the event's severity, the affected individuals' vulnerability, and the fragility of the groups, organizations, and/or institutions to which they belong.

This scenario raises several questions from different perspectives that we wish to address in this issue: how do these tensions and changes concretely affect the activity of the workers involved, what are the consequences of their regulatory efforts from a performance, health and safety perspective, how do the people working in these systems describe their contribution to organizational performance and how do they identify and address the resilience of the systems, is the development of a permanent regulatory capacity understood to be sustainable in the long term, under what circumstances might adaptation be more harmful than inaction, and under what circumstances might adaptation be more harmful than inaction? Finally, how do workers manage the dilemmas of adapting when this could compromise the quality of work or increase risks?

Laboreal invites researchers involved in these topics to submit their work and contribute to the publication of this issue. Papers detailing field experiences, which provide access to real work, will be given priority. The articles will be published in one of the journal's two languages (Spanish or Portuguese). However, proposals, as well as texts submitted for evaluation, may be written in French or English. Authors will be responsible for translating their work into Spanish or Portuguese, taking into account the results of the evaluations.
