Description of the Summer School

As part of the Anawati Chair "Combating Religious Extremism through Interfaith Dialogue," the Dominican Institute for Oriental Studies in Cairo, in partnership with the University of Insubria (Varese and Como), is organizing a summer school in July 2025. This program is intended for PhD students or those who have recently defended their doctoral thesis (after January 1, 2023) on the theme of citizenship and religious pluralism.

From an interdisciplinary perspective, the Summer School will host 25 PhD students from universities and academic institutions across the Mediterranean Basin who are exploring this issue within their respective disciplines (political science, law, history, philosophy, theology, economics).

Participants will present their research and engage in interdisciplinary discussions, to expand their perspectives and establish a global network of young researchers.

The program will be conducted primarily in English and will take place from July 15 to 23, 2025, in Cairo, Egypt. The Chair Anawati will cover travel, accommodation, and selected meals for participants.
