Presentation
For its Volume No. 4 – 2025, the scientific journal City & Tourism – Cité & Tourisme is issuing a call for papers focusing on the dynamics between tourism and the city, urban leisure practices, and the transformations of urban spaces in their cultural, urbanistic, and economic dimensions.
Submissions are expected to fall within one of the following fields: geography (cultural, human, urban, and environmental) or the disciplines of management, business administration, and marketing communication (hospitality, the tourism industry, business tourism – MICE). Contributions that bridge these disciplines are also highly encouraged. Particular attention will be given to empirical studies based on fieldwork and rigorous methodological approaches.
Broader contributions on urban studies are also welcome, particularly those offering a critical perspective on the major cultural, architectural, demographic, sociological, and economic transformations shaping contemporary urban life.
About the Journal
City & Tourism – Cité & Tourisme is the first open-access scientific journal dedicated to the interconnections between tourism and the city. It is supported by a scientific committee, an editorial board, administrators, and international correspondents.
For this Volume No. 4, articles (in French, English, and Spanish) may be submitted for a miscellaneous issue or a special issue, the theme of which will be determined by the project leader(s).
The journal publishes original articles, special issues, book reviews, interviews, and critical commentaries. There are no submission or publication fees. All articles undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure scientific quality.
As an open-access journal, City & Tourism assigns a DOI to each publication. Articles published in French may also be translated into English free of charge as part of an editorial project with Wiley Edition. The journal is published by ISTE OpenScience London (ISTE OpenScience).
Suggested Themes for Volume 2025
The following themes provide non-exhaustive avenues for potential contributions:
-
Digital transformations and tourism marketing in cities and metropolitan regions.
-
Artificial intelligence and urban tourism: challenges and perspectives.
-
New models of tourism governance in France, Europe, and globally.
-
Re-examining urban development through the lens of sustainable tourism.
-
The challenges of tourist cities: short-term rentals, security, and overtourism.
Submission Guidelines
Proposals for articles, special issues, debate-interviews, or book reviews should include a title and an abstract (up to 3,000 characters, including spaces).
For special issues led by established scholars addressing a specific theme, the relevance of the proposed topic and the selection of articles will be key evaluation criteria.
For any questions, submissions, or correspondence, please contact us at cityandtourism@gmail.com or submit your inquiries and proposals directly via the ISTE journal website
before 30 June 2025.
