Clara launches a call for guest editor(s) for its issue 13 (to be published in 2027).
Presentation
Clara is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal in architecture dedicated to topics, research methods and tools specific to the field. Each issue comprises a main thematic section proposed by guest editors, and two additional sections: Archives, with articles based on the exploration of archival documents, and Position(s), with articles that take a stance on current developments or events in architecture.
Clara is published yearly, both online on Cairn.info and in a 24 × 17 cm full-color paperback version. It is in full open access after a one-year embargo. Clara is funded by the Faculty of Architecture La Cambre Horta at Université libre de Bruxelles and receives financial support by the FRS-FNRS (Belgian Fund for Scientific Research). The role of guest editors is to prepare Clara’s thematic section which consists of six to nine articles developing a specific and original topic in the field of architecture. Guest editors write a call for papers, select the abstracts and follow the peer review and editorial processes together with Clara’s editorial board. Guest editors are responsible for the thematic section’s overall consistency and for the quality of each contribution and contribute an introduction to the issue. The section can be ues e i e by a e m of maximum three co-editors.
Editorial process
The editorial process goes as follows. Abstracts (400 words) are submitted to the journal as a response to a call for papers. The guest editors, together with Clara’s editorial board, select up to ten abstracts and invite the authors to elaborate their proposal into an article (max. 50 000 characters/ 8000 words all included).
The articles are then subject to a double-blind peer review, aiming to ascertain their originality, appropriateness of the adopted research methods, the relevance of their argument and conclusions, their structure and readability. Papers within the thematic section are original scientific contributions, based on first-hand research activities. Professional copy-editing and proofreading are organized by the editorial board, with the validation of the guest editors.
