Two postdoctoral researchers will be recruited from January 1, 2026 for two years at CEFRES. They will be both affiliated to CEFRES and to a relevant department for their research at Charles University (UK). 

Deux chercheur.ses postdoctorant.es seront recruté.es au CEFRES pour deux ans à compter du 1^er janvier 2026. Il·elles seront affilié·es au CEFRES et à un département de l’Université Charles (UK) pertinent pour leurs recherches.

• Giedrė Šabasevičiūtė (Institut d’études orientales, Académie tchèque des sciences, Prague)

Présentation

« The project explores self-made books and private bookmaking practices in contemporary Europe and the Middle East, focusing on their material, symbolic and social dimensions. Adopting a genealogical perspective, it examines how non-commercial publishing and book production shape relationships, express identity and responds to political and technological change.

Drawing from the disciplines of anthropology, book history and sociology of literature, the project aims to reappraise the social significance of the print book in the era of digital publishing. Researchers working on contemporary bookmaking practices from the perspective of book history, anthropology, sociology, literary studies and other disciplines such as information and communication sciences are more than welcome to apply. »

La/le candidat(e) retenu(e) sera affilié(e) au CEFRES et bénéficiera d’une collaboration avec L’Institut d’études orientales de l’Académie tchèque des sciences et un département choisi de l’Université Charles. Le poste peut également déboucher sur d’autres collaborations basées sur des projets.

Dossier de candidature

 Les candidat(e)s doivent soumettre le dossier de candidature complet constitué des éléments suivants :

• le formulaire de candidature dûment rempli (à télécharger ici). Ce formulaire inclut la description du projet de recherche personnel, lequel doit :
  • spécifier l’axe de recherche du CEFRES dans lequel le projet s’inscrit et expliquer comment la recherche personnelle y contribue
  • inclure une explication de la méthodologie et de l’originalité de la recherche, de même qu’une bibliographie qui n’excédera pas une page
  • inclure les délivrables prévus (publications, colloques ou ateliers, etc.).
• une lettre de recommandation de l’ancien directeur/directrice de thèse (à télécharger ici). La lettre doit comprendre une déclaration mentionnant le titre de la thèse, la date de soutenance, etc.
• un CV détaillé
• une liste de publications
• une copie du diplôme de thèse

Critères d’éligibilité

• Être un.e jeune chercheur.se de haut niveau, résidant hors de République tchèque au moment de la candidature et ayant soutenu sa thèse pas plus de 5 ans avant la date-limite de candidature dans une université en dehors de République tchèque (les congès parentaux et médicaux donnent droit à une exception ; pour toutes les autres raisons, merci de contacter le CEFRES directement).
• Conduire une recherche qui contribuera à l’un des axes de recherche du CEFRES (Post-doc 1) ou au projet Tandem (Post-doc 2).
• Une bonne maîtrise de l’anglais est obligatoire, celle du français est un avantage.

Attentes

Il est attendu des post-doctorant.es UK-CEFRES qu’il.elles :

• contribuent par leur recherche personnelle à l’axe/au projet de recherche dans le cadre duquel ils ont candidaté,
• prennent part à la vie scientifique du CEFRES,
• remettent un rapport annuel au directeur du CEFRES,
• résident à Prague à partir du 1er janvier 2026.

The young scientist will be affiliated with CEFRES and benefit from collaboration with the Oriental Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences and a chosen Department at Charles University. The position can lead to further project–based collaboration.
