The biannual conference of the European Association for Chinese Linguistics (EACL) will be held in Paris-Aubervilliers, Campus Condorcet, on 2-4 September 2026. This year, besides the general session dedicated to all areas of Chinese linguistics, the EACL conference will also hold a special panel on “The morphosyntax of aspect: diachrony and synchrony” and a Young Scholars Forum.

Research areas

We invite abstracts (in English) for 20-minute talks (plus 10 minutes for discussion) presenting unpublished original research in all areas of Chinese linguistics (excluding applied linguistics and teaching of Chinese), for example: 

• Diachronic or synchronic linguistics
• Phonology
• Morphology
• Syntax and semantics
• Writing
• Field linguistics
• Theoretical linguistics
• Dialectology
• Typology
• Historical linguistics
• L1 acquisition
• Heritage language
• L2 acquisition (description of the linguistic system of non-native speakers)

Important information

Presentations will be onsite only. Online participation will be possible for non-presenting audience only.

Papers that are included in the program must be presented by the author(s) and cannot be presented by proxies.

All presenters must be(come) members of the European Association of Chinese Linguistics. Please refer to the EACL website for details. 

Submission guidelines

Abstracts can still be submitted for the

• General Session
• the special panel on “The morphosyntax of aspect : diachrony and synchrony”, organized by Barbara MEISTERERNST, Stuttgart University
• the new special panel on “Language Acquisition”, organized by YU Xinyue, INALCO, or the Young Scholars Forum (YSF)

Abstracts should not exceed one-page (examples and references included), with 2.5 cm (1 inch) margins, single spacing and Times New Roman 12pt.

Submissions must be anonymous and all author-related file properties must be removed.

Please include 2 to 4 keywords right below the title of the abstract, including the relevant sub-domain (syntax, phonology, historical linguistics etc.).

Abstracts should be submitted exclusively via the Sciencesconf application system.

No more than one single-authored and one co-authored abstract per person will be accepted.

Abstracts will be evaluated upon the following criteria:

• Clarity of the research topic and questions
• Methodology, data collection, analysis
• Theoretical background relating to the subject
• Relevance of conclusions
• Originality of the research topic and approach

We are pleased to announce that the deadline for the submission of abstracts for EACL-13 (Sept. 02-04, 2026) has been extended to March 15th, 2026.
