Presentation

On the occasion of the 36th INEDITS meetings to be held in Brest from 24 to 27 November 2026, the Cinémathèque de Bretagne is organising a round table on the theme of Artificial Intelligence in the service of film archive collections.

Founded in 1991, INEDITS organises annual meetings in a European city. This association promotes the collection, preservation, study and promotion of amateur films. It currently has around sixty members from 15 European countries. This opportunity for reflection, sharing and exchange takes place over two or three days. It allows all those who work with amateur images to come together for round tables, workshops and screenings to forge conceptual tools related to the specific nature of these films.

In 2026, the Rencontres will be hosted in Brest by the Cinémathèque de Bretagne, which will organise one of its round tables on the theme of artificial intelligence. The chosen focus is the contribution of these technologies to the archive and audiovisual sectors in general (data management, materiality, documentation, valorisation, etc.). What are the experiences, challenges and limitations associated with the use of these tools?
