Abstract
Announcement
For a panel at the European Social Science History Conference, Lisbon, Feb 27 - March 1, 2008, I am inviting papers on the reception, interpretation and criticism of historicism in interwar Europe.
Historicism is here to be understood as the contextualizing mode of thought that became associated with various kinds of “relativism” in the early decades of the twentieth century. Particularly welcome are papers on the defense of historicism against this charge as well as on the formulation of anti-historicist natural law theories during the 1920s and 1930s.
Please send 300-word abstracts and full contact information to h.j.paul[at]rug.nl
before April 15, 2007.
