Abstract

Terra 2016 is the twelfth in a series of international events organised since 1972, bringing together academics, professionals and experts, and a broad audience gathering around earthen architectures. The congress is organised under the aegis of the ISCEAH Committee of ICOMOS international, in the framework of the UNESCO World Heritage Earthen Architecture Programme (WHEAP). The 2016 edition will focus mainly on issues dealing with sustainable development, particularly in urban areas. This event will gather more than 800 participants from the fields of heritage conservation, archeology, architecture and urban planning, engineering, social sciences, as well as fields related to local sustainable development and crisis intervention.

6.4. Reinforcement of institutions, collectivities and networks
6.5. Public initiatives and sensitisation

Presentation of your work

About 120 papers will be presented in this event, 80 of which in plenary sessions and 40 during group work sessions. 
One hundred posters will be showcased at the poster display area. 
A selection of one hundred papers will be compiled in a publication prepared with the Getty Conservation Institute. 
Eventually, the totality of the work presented, including the posters (with a specific, readable format) will be published electronically on the CRAterre, ICOMOS France and World Heritage Centre of UNESCO (WHEAP page) websites. 

The selection will be made by the Scientific Committee (see criteria below), but oral presentations or poster presentations will not be effective until payment of registration fees and the presence at the event of at least one of the authors.

Abstracts

Deadline for submission of abstracts: Abstracts must be sent before February 10, 2015L

Format : Word format, Arial 10, flush left.

Content

. Title ;
. Keywords : (5 maximum) ;
. Specify your choice/priority : Poster ou Paper
. The abstract should not exceed 2 000 characters, spaces included (about 300 words maximum).

Required abstract contents

. background or context for research or activity
. main issues or objectives
. results obtained
. presentation of the content of the paper or poster

To complete your work, we ask that you include a photo or illustration of your choice.

The author and caption of the photograph or illustration are to be indicated, as well as your authorisation (or lack thereof) to use and feature it in publications associated with the conference.

Evaluation of abstracts (blind peer review)

Criteria for the evaluation of abstracts:
. correspondence of the subject with the chosen theme / sub-theme ;
. originality of subject or approach (innovation, crossdisciplinarity, new tools, etc.) ;
. quality of methodology ;
. magnitude of action or research (duration, social impact, scientific impact…) ;
. clear writing.

Priority will be given to papers written in an effort to summarise and synthesise.
The approval of abstracts for papers and oral presentations at the conference will become final only after papers are received and validated by the Scientific Committee.

Scientific Committee

The Scientific Committee is mainly composed of ICOMOS-ISCEAH Committee members, together with representatives from partner institutions. 4 - 9 reviewers will work with each theme leader, allowing the revision (blind peer review) of each abstract/paper by 3 experts, which will guarantee the high scientific level of the event.
