Doctoral candidate (PhD student) in Contemporary History

- 14 months fixed-term contract, renewable up to 3 years,
- Full-time (40h/week)
- Student and employee status (36 months studies programme)

History of the computerization and digitalization of banking activities and services
Your Role
- Prepare a doctoral thesis in the history of the computerization and digitalization of banking activities and services (at the crossroads of banks and customers, of bank services and their uses and reception), in a European perspective (at least with case studies in two European countries)
- Participate in the FLSHASE Doctoral School and the skills trainings of the Doctoral Training Unit on “Digital History and Hermeneutics”
- Engage in the dynamics of the research team, in the academic activities and public history events of the Center for Contemporary and Digital History (C2DH)
- Engage with presentations at conferences and publish papers in international peer- reviewed journals
- Support Prof. Schafer to develop projects
- Assist the professor in his teaching activities, one to three hours per week.

Your Profile
- Master’s degree in History, preferably with a specialisation in economic history or/and history of technology and a strong interest for the history of Europe
- Good digital literacy
- Good writing and communication skills
- Excellent working knowledge of French and English (and German would be a strong asset too).
