The "Architectural Models in Context" research network sets out to bring together all those interested in the history, current practice and future of architectural model-making. The project aims at developing a deeper understanding of the role of the architectural model in the design process, both historically and in contemporary practice. It constitutes an inter-disciplinary knowledge hub for those researching, working with, or interested in models. The project sets out to promote appreciation of the value of models and to promote their documentation, preservation and public display and on-line resources will be developed on architectural models for public and professional audiences.

Présentation

L’équipe HISTARA est partenaire de ce programme organisé par le Victoria and Albert Museum à Londres et financé par le Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).

Ce programme a débuté en septembre 2017 pour une durée de 18 mois. Centré sur l’Europe pendant la période moderne et contemporaine, le programme s’intéresse au rôle des maquettes d’architecture au sein du processus créatif, leur fonction pendant la mise au point de solutions pendant la discussion avec le commanditaire, l’emploi de dessins comme instrument complémentaire. Il s’efforcera d’analyser comment des technologies de numérisation peuvent être utilisées pour une meilleure interprétation et pour la création d’une base de données.

Le but est d’élaborer des instruments de recherche et un échange européen autour des maquettes d’architecture entre des communautés scientifiques et professionnelles et mettre à disposition de nouvelles ressources.

Les autres partenaires sont network Architectural Association, London, Architekturmuseum München / TU München, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, UMR 3495 CNRS/MCC MAP, Royal Institute of British Architects, Sir John Soane’s Museum, London.
