Abstract
L'association Danses macabres d’Europe organise son XIXe congrès à Bucarest du 20 au 23 mai 2021 autour des trois thèmes suivants : la longue durée de la danse macabre et de l’art macabre en général ; la violence de la mort : périls, pièges, peurs - images littéraires et artistiques ; les espaces de la mort - lieux funéraires et terrains anthropologiques.

Association “Danses macabres d’Europe”
The Association “Danses macabres d’Europe” (DME) was founded in France en 1987; study groups were subsequently created in Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany and Austria. DME has organized several international congresses in France as well as other countries; its first congress took place at Clusone (Lombardy) en 1987, and was followed by the congresses held at Chartres (1988), Kientzheim (Alsace) in 1990, Straubing (Bavaria) in 1992, Füssen (Bavaria) in 1995, Kassel (Hesse) in 1998, Vendôme in 2000, Rouen in 2003, Gand in partnership with the city’s University in 2005, Metnitz (Carinthie, Austria) in 2007, Sibiu (Romania) organised by the University of Bucharest in 2010, Chartres in 2012, Turin – organised by the city’s University in 2014, Troyes – organised by the Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne and the Médiathèque du Grand Troyes in 2016, Paris, in 2019, organised in partnership with the Mazarine Library and Sainte-Geneviève Library.

Submission guidelines
Contributors are invited to submit an abstract of maximum 500 words, accompanied by 5-7 key words and a brief biographical note indicating the surname, first name, title and institutional affiliation (written in Word, Times New Roman, font size 12, 1.5 line spacing)
to be sent by 30 June 2020

Presentations will be delivered in two languages: French and English
Timeline

Deadline for abstract submission: 30 June 2020
- Confirmation of the proposals accepted by the selection committee: 15 July 2020
- The final versions of the presentations must be submitted by 15 November 2020, in view of their publication in a volume.
Evaluation
The abstracts will be evaluated by a selection committee comprising members of the scientific committee of the Congress.
Congress proceedings will be published in 2021 by Bucharest University Press.
