Résumé

The World Conference on Qualitative Research (WCQR) is an annual event that aims to bring together researchers, academics and professionals, promoting the sharing and discussion of knowledge, new perspectives, experiences and innovations on the field of qualitative research. It encourages the submission of scientific works that focus on several fields of application in qualitative research, from education to health, social sciences, engineering and technology, among others.

Presentation

The World Conference on Qualitative Research (WCQR) is an annual event that aims to bring together researchers, academics and professionals, promoting the sharing and discussion of knowledge, new perspectives, experiences and innovations on the field of qualitative research. The growing success of previous editions is an important indicator of a multidisciplinary, committed and involved community in the context of qualitative research.

The 5th World Conference on Qualitative Research will take place at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences University of Barcelona (Spain), 20th to 22nd January 2021. We believe WCQR will continue its growth in the number and quality of submissions, confirming itself as one of the main worldwide events on qualitative research. The main objective is for WCQR to maintain the indicators of success with each new edition, encouraging the submission of scientific works that focus on several fields of application in Qualitative Research, from Education to Health, Social Sciences, Engineering and Technology, among others, as well as a crosswise and holistic view, with the approach of several themes and dimensions of research.

Authors may submit proposals for presentation of Abstracts that meet the goals and themes of the Conference, including original scientific works addressing revisions to the state of the art research and new perspectives, solutions and/or applications to real problems, empirical and/or evaluation, among others.

Application fields

  • Qualitative Research in Health (emphasis on the processes of research in the fields of Medicine, Nursing, Geriatrics, Gerontology, Psychology, etc.)
  • Qualitative Research in Education (emphasis on the processes of research in various areas of Higher Education, Basic Education, Assessment, Curriculum, Teaching, Teaching Science, Languages, History, Technology, etc.)
  • Qualitative Research in Social Science (emphasis on the processes of research in the fields of Communication, Linguistics, Sociology, Anthropology, Organizational and Work Psychology, Business Administration, Marketing, Management and Economics, Political Science, etc.)
  • Qualitative Research in Engineering and Technology (emphasis on the research processes in the areas of Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering and Engineering Education)

Submission guidelines

Proposals for the presentation of Abstracts which address the objectives and themes of the Conference, including original scientific works addressing the state-of-the-art research and new perspectives, solutions and/or applications to real problems, empirical studies and/or evaluation, among others. 

Abstracts must be structured to include Introduction (Context/Justification); Goals; Methods (study design, techniques/instruments for data collection and processing); Results (data obtained) and Conclusions. The abstract does not include bibliographic references.

Types:

  • Oral Presentation

Abstracts must have between 250 and 300 words. Authors of accepted abstracts will have 15 minutes for the in-person presentation, plus 5 minutes for discussion at the conference;

  • Poster Presentation

Abstracts must have between 250 and 300 words. Presentation will be in Poster format, at the Conference.

All abstracts must be submitted online, on Easychair

before October 11, 2020

All abstracts submitted to WCQR within the deadlines and according to the guidelines will be subjected to the review process (double-blind review). After completion of the review process, the contact author will be informed about the acceptance or rejection of the submitted work. In both cases, the reviewers’ comments will be available to the authors;

General information

Due to the current global situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Organizing Committee may decide to switch the WCQR2021 to a fully online event. The OC will monitor the evolution of the situation regularly and decide whether or not there are conditions to hold the event in person. This decision will be made no longer than September, 2020. In case the WCQR2021 goes fully virtual, all authors will be able to present their works online (by Video or Synchronous Session) and in-person registration fees will be adjusted to the “Online Presentation” option.

  • Early bird registration: November 8, 2020
  • WCQR2021: 20 to 22 January, 2021
