Presentation

International Meetings of the Middle Ages in Nájera have been proposed as an international congress in the field of study and dissemination of Medieval History since 2003. This NEIM 2020 edition will take place in an offsite virtual environment, due to COVID'19.

The theme for this year’s meetings is Economic policies and strategies in the Medieval Atlantic City. Atlantic city, arose in the Middle Ages, was based on a series of key factors -such as the geographical features, infrastructures and very dynamic societies-, but also because urban policies adopted, in those peripheral cities due to its geographical location, some common and different characteristics from the cities of the interior of the continent, whose economic policies and strategies we are proposing to analyze in this conference.

The International Meetings of the Middle Ages in Nájera invite you to send proposals (oral or poster presentation) on the following topics:

  • Axis 1: Intervention of the town council authorities in the port administration.
  • Axis 2: Navigation, shipbuilding and empowerment of merchant and war fleets.
  • Axis 3: Professional port associations.
  • Axis 4: Economic diplomacy: nations and consulates.
  • Axis 5: Regulation of port and maritime activity.
  • Axis 6: Policies and financial strategies.
  • Axis 7: Female entrepreneur.
  • Axis 8: The ports in the commercial and fiscal policy of the Crown.
  • Axis 9: Management of the maritime and coastal jurisdiction.
  • Axis 10: Maritime transport and port infrastructure support policies.
