Resumen

Applications are open until February 19th for six early stage researchers (PhD research projects) that will be funded by the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions within the Horizon 2020 Programme of the European Commission through the Innovative Training Network “RE-DWELL: Delivering affordable and sustainable housing in Europe”.

Presentation

The RE-DWELL consortium consists of 10 universities and 12 professional, social and political organizations involved in housing provision representing 9 European countries (Spain, France, UK, Croatia, Hungary, Cyprus, Netherlands, Portugal and Belgium). The programme aims to train 15 early stage researchers with the transdiscipinary skills to address the urgent need for affordable and sustainable housing, a major challenge for European societies.

Each researcher will work at the host university awarding the PhD degree. In addition, the researcher will spend 2 to 3 months in the partner organisations participating in their research project.

The Marie Sklodowska-Curie programme offers highly competitive and attractive salary and working conditions which include:

  • a living allowance (between 2 500 and 4 509 euros per month, depending on the country of the host institutuion)
  • a monthly mobility allowance (600 euros per month)
  • a family allowance (if applicable, 500 euros per month).

The candidates must fulfil the eligibility and mobility requirements of the Marie Curie ITN programme

Positions

The following positions are open for applications :

  • ESR 3 : Housing governance between city bounadries, at Université Grenoble Alpes / Laboratoire Pacte, France.
  • ESR 4 : Lifecycle cost analysis and socioeconomic impact of existing social housing construction methods, at the School of architecture, University of Sheffield, United Kingdom.
  • ESR 6 : Comparative analysis of social housing policies’ modernization impacts in selected post-socialist countries, at the Institute for Social Policy, University of Zagreb, Croatia.
  • ESR 7 : Housing crisis and its impact on adequate housing, at the Institute for Sociology, Hungarian Academy of Sciences Centre of Excellence, and the Faculty of Social Sciences, Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, Hungary
  • ESR 9 : The challenge of change in living environments: implications and opportunities for architectural education, at the Department of Architecture, University of Cyprus, Nicosia, Cyprus
  • ESR 14 : Mass-customization of affordable and sustainable housing, at the School of Technology and Architecture, ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon, Lisbon, Portugal.

Application

The applications should be submitted via the following portal

until February 19th.

The following information and documentation has to be provided :

  • personal data 
  • confirmation of compliance with the eligibility and mobility requirements 
  • letter of motivation (maximum 2 pages)
  • CV in EUROPASS format
  • certificate of English proficiency 
  • transcripts of your academic degrees (translated into English, by a sworn translator; including ranking of degree classification)
  • a research proposal in line with the ESR project (maximum 6 pages), for each ESR project you would like to apply (maximum three)
  • if applicable, a professional portfolio 
  • two reference letters

Selection process

After the end of the call on February 19, the ESR recruitment committees (supervisor and co- supervisors) will review the applications and interview the candidates online to selct the best two candidates for a final stage presentation. In mid-March, a two-day online conference will be organized for candidates to present their project to the Supervisory Board of the network. The Board will make recommendations for the ESR appointment to the host institution which will initiate the process to contract the selected candidate. The contract with the host universty will be completed before June 1, 2021.
