L’Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) sollicite des candidatures provenant des domaines de la psychologie, de la psychoéducation, du travail social, des sciences infirmières, de la médecine ou de disciplines apparentées pour l’attribution d’une chaire de recherche du Canada du conseil de recherche en sciences humaines du Canada (CRSH) de niveau 1 sur la maltraitance des enfants. Cette chaire s’inscrit dans la programmation scientifique du centre d’études interdisciplinaires sur le développement de l’enfant et de la famille (CEIDEF) qui se spécialise notamment dans la recherche sur la maltraitance des enfants, les traumas complexes et les familles vivant des situations de grande vulnérabilité.

Presentation
The Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) invites applications from candidates in psychology, psychoeducation, social work, nursing, medicine, and related disciplines for a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Child Maltreatment. This Chair will be part of the scientific program of the Centre d’études interdisciplinaires sur le développement de l’enfant et de la famille (CEIDEF) [Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies on Child Development and the Family], whose research expertise includes child maltreatment, complex trauma, and highly vulnerable families. Researchers in all fields related to the theme of maltreatment (developmental processes, parenting, ecology of child maltreatment, youth protection, etc.) are eligible and will receive due consideration. Candidates must have an outstanding research track record, as well as proven leadership in social innovation. Achievements and a research program that are interdisciplinary/intersectoral and integrate participatory and inclusive approaches are assets. Candidates must also have a proven capacity to build partnerships on the topic of child maltreatment with stakeholders in such areas as social services, education, public health, and public policy. Finally, candidates must demonstrate the relevance of their work in the social sciences and their ability to secure SSHRC funding.
The CEIDEF’s mission is to integrate theory, research, and practice related to the field of child and family studies. The CEIDEF’s solid and comprehensive infrastructure (observational and biological data collection labs; regional, national, and international partnerships in academic and practice settings; specialized graduate programs; support for researchers and students, etc.) allows its researchers to conduct world-class and innovative research, contribute to the training of students and future researchers, and expand their networks of partnerships among both the academic and applied settings. The CEIDEF possesses particular expertise in fundamental research (both observational and longitudinal), the study of developmental processes, and the creation, evaluation, and dissemination of social innovations (translational research). The CEIDEF has a reputation of being a rich and stimulating environment, offering multiple opportunities to students, researchers, as well as their partners. The creation of a Tier 1 SSHRC Canada Research Chair will reinforce the CEIDEF’s capacity to make significant contributions to knowledge development and social innovation in the field of child maltreatment, a central research theme in the CEIDEF that is shared by the majority of its members.
The Canada Research Chairs Program
Tier 1 Canada Research Chairs are awarded after a rigorous evaluation of remarkable candidates recognized by their peers as international leaders in their field. Candidates for Tier 1 chairs must be full professors, or associate professors expected to become full professors within two years of their candidacy. Candidates other than from universities must possess the necessary qualifications for full professorship.

Selection process
Each application will first be evaluated by a committee responsible for identifying candidates who satisfy the selection criteria of the University and of the Canada Research Chairs Program. Applications which proceed to the next step will be reviewed by a committee which ensures that the University’s guidelines and objectives related to equity, diversity, and inclusion have been taken into account. Because the creation of this position is subject to approval by the University, candidates must also go through a
departmental hiring process. The successful candidate will be invited to submit a full application package to the Canada Research Chair Program in Fall 2022 and will be offered a tenure-track professorship.
Salary
As determined by the collective agreement of UQTR professors.
Expected profile
The successful candidate will hold the position of full professor at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. Candidates must possess a doctorate (PhD) in a field relevant to the theme of child maltreatment. Knowledge of French is not required at the time of hire, but is an asset. Teaching experience is an asset.
Submission guidelines
Candidates are invited to apply by February 20, 2022. The application package must include: a curriculum vitae, a brief description of their research program related to the chair (maximum of three pages), some examples or copies of significant contributions to the field of maltreatment (peer-reviewed articles, monographs, clinical or social innovations, etc.), and the names of three experts prepared to submit a letter of recommendation. Candidates may also add details on special circumstances which led to a slowdown or interruption of their research activities; UQTR will take these circumstances into account during review of their applications.
